“Ready for this” Khamzat Chimaev calls out Israel Adesanya after UFC 253 title defence

“Ready for this” Khamzat Chimaev calls out Israel Adesanya after UFC 253 title defence
Israel Adesanya stands at 9-0 in UFC whereas Khamzat Chimaev stands at 3-0

UFC’s hottest prospect Khamzat Chimaev has had a similar verbal rivalry with Israel Adesanya, to what Paulo Costa had before UFC 253 fight. Adesanya defended his Middleweight title beautifully and significantly for the second time at UFC 253 against undefeated challenger Paulo Costa. While Costa looked to get into Adesanya’s head during the fight as well with all his posing and mimicry in the first round. Adesanya had enough of that, showcasing a classy display on how one should defend his title, he finished the fight with a second round TKO.

However, as soon as Adesanya won, Chimaev wasted no time in calling the Middleweight Champion out for a fight. Since making his debut, Chimaev has produced three victories, all by stoppage, in a span of 66 days. His most recent showing saw him knock out Gerald Meerschaert in just 17 seconds at UFC Vegas 11. There is no wonder that Chimaev has the urgency and spark to reach the very top.

Chimaev, who only made his UFC debut in July but has quickly become an octagon sensation. Wants a piece of the undefeated Middleweight Champion in what would be a matchup between two undefeated fighters.

UFC president Dana White praised Chimaev as ‘one of the most special fighters’ he’s seen in his career. White also said following UFC 253 that the promotion was currently looking at a showdown with Stephen Thompson for Chimaev. But nothing was finalized. Adesanya is looking at Jared Cannonier for his third title defence. Given if “The Killa Gorilla” can get past Robert Whittaker at UFC 254 in October.

Having said that it only looks like a matter of time when Chimaev and Adesanya would be looking horns in the octagon. Especially if Chimaev keeps cruising the same way, he is now.
