Arsenal Football Club has managed to change the way the rest of the footballing community perceives them. From being laughed at to transforming themselves as title contenders, Mikel Arteta‘s men are a team to be feared in Europe. The Gunners have scored 15 goals this season, and have only let in 6 (2nd best record in the League). The club have defensive duo Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba to thank for their marvelous record in the competition.

The club have kept five clean sheets in all competitions this season and will certainly be a headache for both Liverpool and Manchester City in their pursuit of the Premier League title. Recently, reports claiming that William Saliba is Real Madrid‘s latest transfer target has put fans on high alert. Saliba has become an indispensable part of Arteta’s plan and has not expressed his desire to part ways with the club in any form.

However, it is understood that Real Madrid are willing to pay ‘whatever’ for the 23-year-old and will look to bring him to the club next summer. As of now, Madrid rely on Antonio Rudiger and Eder Militao to take care of the defensive department.

The Los Blancos aren’t a club that will hesitate to pay good money for a player, with the examples of Aurelien Tchouameni (€100 million) and Jude Bellingham (€133 million).

The Gunners are currently third in the League table and will take on Bournemouth and then Liverpool after the International break. Even though Arsenal are equipped with one of the best center back pairings in all of Europe, the club are reportedly eyeing a move for a defender.

Arteta is no stranger to bringing in healthy competition in the squad, with the example of David Raya, who eventually took over Aaron Ramsdale‘s spot in the XI. As per reports, Arsenal are willing to beat Real Madrid to the signing of Palmeiras defender Vitor Reis. The 18-year-old hasn’t featured in the last four games for his club, although his performances have been good enough to attract top clubs from across Europe.

It is understood that Palmeiras have kept a €100 million termination clause and haven’t set a price for the player. Reis recently signed a contract extension that keeps him at the club till December 2028. Palmeiras plan to keep the player until the 2025 Club World Cup with interest coming from Barcelona, Chelsea and Liverpool as well.
