WWE will stage a couple of events in Saudi Arabia this weekend. Does it even seem pragmatic with the persistent unrest in the region? As of now, there’s no indication that the shows will be moved out of Riyadh in the wake of the Iran-Israel conflict with key US involvement. Moreover, as the fans witnessed on this week’s Raw, Dominik Mysterio pulled out from the event, citing injury woes.

The news was broken by GM Adam Pearce, and it miffed Mysterio’s challenger for the Intercontinental Championship, AJ Styles, who joked about whether Dom strained his mustache. Pearce told the former WWE Champion that the injury was legitimate, but assured Styles that he’ll be first in line for a crack at the IC title belt when Mysterio is good to go. But what is actually it with the latter?

As seen below, the Judgment Day member was interviewed by Jackie Redmond on Raw during a commercial break. Amidst a chorus of boos, Dirty Dom revealed that his ribs weren’t at 100% after noting that he was missing his guerita, Liv Morgan.

The latter unfortunately dislocated her shoulder last week and will be out for at least six months. While Morgan’s injury is, by no means, a work, the same couldn’t be said about Mysterio.

There are no reports about it, and him pulling out of Night of Champions does seem like a case of safety with how tumultuous the situation is over there at the moment. US President Donald Trump had brokered a truce between Iran and Israel, which was soon violated. Moreover, the Iranian state television announced that every US citizen and military personnel was a target after the US claimed to have destroyed three nuclear sites in Iran.

How has Dominik Mysterio fared as the WWE Intercontinental Champion?

Ever since winning the Intercontinental title at WrestleMania 41, Dominik Mysterio has defended it on three occasions. First and foremost, the San Diego native took on Penta on Raw after WrestleMania and eventually came out on top after JD McDonagh made his impending return to save the day for his stablemate.

Consequently, the former AEW star got his rematch against Mysterio at Backlash. During the closing moments, El Grande Americano appeared at ringside and cost Penta amid simultaneous Judgment Day shenanigans. AJ Styles had told Mysterio that he was next in line for the title, but the match was put on hold for some reason.

At this month’s Money in the Bank PLE, Liv Morgan’s Daddy Dom locked horns with AAA’s Octagon Jr. in an impromptu title defense. When it seemed like Styles’ turn had come, Mysterio’s ribs gave up, or at least that’s his rationale behind buying some more time before getting in the ring with The Phenomenal One.

Dominik Mysterio praises his trailblazing father Rey Mysterio

Dominik Mysterio has given some major props to his so-called deadbeat dad, Rey Mysterio. While speaking on the Intoxicados podcast, the IC Champion claimed that, even though he hates to mention it, his father is one of the very few men who have truly revolutionized the pro wrestling business.

Dom mentioned that the WWE Hall of Famer put the lucha style of wrestling on the map that no one actually cared about in the beginning. It was one of those rare instances where the Judgment Day member cared to give credit where it was due. Or else, in kayfabe, the 28-year-old couldn’t stand his legendary father.

They’ve had a number of matches in recent years. At WrestleMania 39, they made history by becoming the first father-son duo to take each other on in a singles match at The Grandest Stage of Them All. A year later, at WrestleMania XL, they went at it again but with different tag team partners.
