Renato Moicano recently talked about the upcoming UFC 303 showdown. He also addressed the short-notice main event between Alex Pereira and Jiri Prochazka. Moicano gives his prediction and sees this fight going no other way.
Renato Moicano believes either fighter is going to win via knockout. Former Glory champion, Alex Pereira has proved himself to be an absolute knockout artist. Meanwhile, the UFC lightweight believes Prochazka is too wild to play safe. He talked about the fight on his podcast.
I think that fight is not gonna go the five rounds. I see Alex Poatan knocking Prochazka out. But let's say even if I'm wrong. Prochazka will knock Pereira out.Renato Moicano via Money Moicano
UFC 295 saw Alex Pereira take on Jiri Prochazka in a highly competitive bout for the vacant light heavyweight belt. Former champion Jamahal Hill had vacated the title due to a serious Achilles injury. Pereira had just made his light heavyweight debut. Meanwhile, Prochazka was also making a comeback after his own injury which had forced him to give up the light heavyweight title. It took Pereira just one minute in the second round, to score a TKO win although some felt it might have been an early stoppage.
This is a highly anticipated rematch. Jiri Prochazka has publicly stated that he is going to win this fight. The former champion did mention that he was a little surprised that ‘Poatan’ accepted to defend his title on such short notice. However, Pereira had previously revealed on his YouTube channel that although he was not expecting a showdown, he was still training.
Why did Alex Pereira accept the short-notice fight against Jiri Prochazka?
Alex Pereira has had a successful run in the UFC until now. He transitioned from kickboxing to MMA in 2015 and now boasts a professional MMA record of 10 wins and 2 losses. He was the former middleweight champion before moving up the weight class and taking over the light heavyweight division.
However, ‘Poatan’ is not sure how long this joy ride is going to last. The light heavyweight champion is about to be 37 years old this July. He recently sat down for a conversation with ‘The MacLife’ where he mentioned that he wants to take on such opportunities whenever they come.
I like taking these opportunities. I’m going to be 37. I don’t know how much longer I’m going to be fighting. It’s a good opportunity for me to keep myself active, to keep myself training. I’m always training, so these opportunities, you’ve just got to take them whenever they come.Alex Pereira via TheMacLife
However, Pereira did mention that he is not sure if he would have taken the fight if it were some other opponent. It is not necessarily the fact that he has beaten Prochazka before, but the fact that he knew they were supposed to fight soon.
