Twitter is a platform that often sees some interesting conversations revolving famous personalities. In a fresh exchange of words, involving Roger Federer, former World No.1 Rennae Stubbs did not hold back to express her thoughts on Roger’s absence and it’s consequences.
Federer has done more for tennis’ popularity than almost anyone: Stubbs
It all started when she shared her views about Roger’s excessive assertion on tennis world, that when he decided to skip this year’s tournaments, the tournaments itself were called off.
She made sure to make it clear to the fans that a worldwide pandemic is more powerful than any big celebrity. She also emphasised that even before Roger Federer’s arrival to the sports, tennis had been doing just fine and making money through tournaments such as at Monte Carlo or Queens.
The contradictions were clear. While one man tweeted that Roger’s absence was the reason for the 5 months halt the ATP circuit has witnessed, Rennae wanted to be clear that no player was powerful enough to make a sport return to action.
Thus, a number of tweets were exchanged between two gentlemen and Rennae
In no way did Rennae want to convey her disregard for Roger. Thus she was quick to point out how important a figure was Roger Federer in making tennis, a monumental sport in the present day.
It is evident that for Rennae tennis comes before a single player. Thus she made it almost evident before ending her tweets in the thread that in no way a single man can overpowered the sport. They can be essential, just like Roger but not above the sports. Reggae successfully conveyed how much the sport means to her as she ended my exemplifying the GOATS and acknowledging the contributions of Roger to the is world.
Rennae tagged ATP tour in her to support their well though decision to not resume the tour amidst the pandemic. Her remarks also shed light to the number of people associated with the ATP tour, and their livelihoods on hold.
Rennae stated clear facts. The contributions of Roger Federer are above any other player in the open era. His temperament, game play and strokes have been hailed across generations.
Rennae is a former World No. 1 and six-time grand slam champion. She is currently a host at RacquetMagazine and commentator at ESPN.
