The Jacksonville Jaguars find themselves in hot water following the allegations of s*xual assault being leveled against kicker Brandon McManus. The complaint alleges that the kicker “grinded” on her and misbehaved. While this accusation alone is enough to bring an end to his career, more information now indicates that the Jaguars were replicating the Mile High Club in the skies.

Mike Florio of NBC Sports has reported that the Jacksonville Jaguars team plane had marijuana and alcohol on board. Two substances that the league attempts to stay as far away from as possible. Players are prohibited from bringing both substances on board the team flights, however, the Jaguars appear to have violated this rule.

The complaint filed by the flight attendants alleges that alcohol was brought by the Jaguars players onto the team flight. The NFL will not remain silent and has strictly been against teams turning the other cheek to players who bring alcohol aboard following the Todd Downing incident wherein the former Titans OC was arrested for a DUI incident just hours after his team’s win over the Green Bay Packers.

The Jacksonville Jaguars reportedly urged flight attendants to drink and dance with them

The team worked to actively create a party-like atmosphere on the flight, with some players going as far as encouraging the flight attendants to drink and dance with them. Right now, the Jags find themselves in trouble irrespective of Brandon McManus being found guilty or being let go over the s*xual misconduct allegations.

The league’s present stance on alcohol is that it expects teams to not offer it on flight and when players attempt to bring it with them, it is the responsibility of the team to ensure that it does not make it onto the flight. McManus’ lawyer Brett Gallaway issued a statement after the allegations surfaced.

These are absolutely fictitious and demonstrably false allegations made as part of a campaign to defame and disparage a talented and well-respected NFL player. We intend to aggressively defend Brandon's rights and integrity and clear his name by showing what these claims truly are- an extortion attempt.
Brett R. Gallaway said in his statement

Does this mean that the kicker was approached by the parties prior with an offer to let the matter go if he had financially compensated them for the same? There is no clarity with respect to that.

The matter will be decided by the courts and until then, nothing can be said with certainty. However, the league will not take s*xual assault cases lightly. Deshaun Watson is the prime example of that, despite being a star, the NFL made him sit out for an entire year until it concluded its investigation and then levied a 11-game suspension on him the subsequent year.
