On the auspicious day of 74th Republic Day on January 26, the country is in the mood to celebrate its legacy. Sport has the power to unite a country and cricket is like a religion in India. The Men in Blue and the Women in Blue have often made the country proud with their performances, and in the future too, they’ll continue to do the same. As India is celebrating this special day, the cricket fraternity has also started to pour out their wishes to the countrymen.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah wrote: “74 years strong! Greetings on the occasion of #Republic Day.”

The ‘God’ of cricket, Sachin Tendulkar, never misses an opportunity to shower his wishes on important days and events like this. “Proud of our glorious Nation today, tomorrow & forever!

Former India skipper Virat Kohli shared a ten-second video to give his wishes.

All-rounder Hardik Pandya wrote: “Happy Republic Day to all that are part of this amazing nation.”

India Test veteran Cheteshwar Pujara wished the countrymen by saying, “Happy Republic Day Jai Hind!

Former India legend VVS Laxman greeted everyone with: “Greetings on India’s 74th Republic Day. A day to remember the sacrifices of all those who have contributed in the making of our great nation.

Former India women’s captain Mithali Raj expressed her delight upon seeing a magnificent parade. She shared a clip of the parade and wrote: “Such a magnificent sight this! The awe-inspiring Parade is full of grandeur, pride and enthusiasm which represents the incredible legacy of our nation. Wishing all fellow Indians a very happy Republic Day!

Former India cricketer-turned-commentator Mohammad Kaif penned down a heartfelt paragraph. “Nothing gives a sportsperson a bigger high than being able to hold aloft our tri-colour with pride, lots to celebrate about our great nation’s rise on this the 74th Republic Day.

The legendary all-rounder Yuvraj Sigh shared a video where he could be seen hoisting a flag, while his caption read: “My warmest wishes to everyone on the occasion of our 74th Republic Day! Proud to be a citizen of this great nation which has given birth to countless heroes.”

India women star cricketer Smriti Mandhana tweeted: “Let us be proud of our freedom of thought, faith, and dreams. Cherish our nation’s rich history and be pleased to be a part of an India that is always shining. Happy Republic Day.”

Even Aussie star David Warner, who is fond of India, extended his wishes by tweeting: “To all my friends in India Happy Republic day. I can’t wait to see you very soon.” The last part is about the upcoming Gavaskar-Border Trophy, which will start on February 9.
