The World lost one of its brightest sporting stars yesterday, as football legend Diego Maradona unexpectedly passed away at the age of 60. The Argentine was regarded as one of the world’s greatest footballer and his larger than life persona mesmerized everyone. The legend won the 1986 FIFA World Cup and was awarded The FIFA Player of the 20th Century Award.

His sudden demise shocked everyone everywhere. After the knowledge of his passing, Tributes from many across the tennis community quickly came in. World No.1, Novak Djokovic also paid his respect to the forever great Maradona.

Djokovic first met Diego Maradona at the ATP Finals in London in 2018. ”Just to have him as a support was incredible honor and pleasure,” Djokovic said. “After many years, we exchanged some gifts, shirts and racquets, but never met in person. That was the first time,” he added.

Djokovic expressed his respect for the Argentine on social media, posting a picture of the two together. Djokovic described Maradona as one of the biggest icons in sports ever, “He’s a big legend. It’s a big pleasure to meet him.”

After learning about Maradona’s sudden passing away. Novak Djokovic posted a picture with a caption that read, “Rest in paradise legend #maradona.”
