Rey Mysterio began his wrestling career in 1989 and has been a part of the industry for over 35 years! He has wrestled for nearly every major wrestling company worldwide and still continues to be an incredible in-ring performer. However, the wrestling legend recently talked about when he planned to hang up his boots.

On the Chris Van Vliet podcast, Rey Mysterio talked about how much longer he wanted to wrestle. The wrestling veteran revealed that he froze whenever he was asked this question by his wife. He was not sure if he wanted to continue for another two to three years. He said that he simply listened to his body and mindset. Even after so many years, his body had been feeling great.

The Hall of Famer revealed that he had recently been participating in cold plunges and saunas. The benefits he got from these activities had him feeling even better. Most importantly, his mind had to be in the right place, which had also been the hardest thing for him.

When my wife brings that up, that's when I pause. I don't know if I want to do it another two years, three years.

The age factor often entered his mind. Although he is not there yet, he still wants to move around and be able to walk at the age of 55 or 56. He was unsure if continuing to wrestle for so long would allow him to maintain his physical health in his old age.

Rey Mysterio reveals the backstory behind his match against Eddie Guerrero for the custody of Dominik Mysterio

The master of 619 was involved in a feud with Eddie Guerrero during the summer of 2005. Their match at SummerSlam 2005 was a ladder match, the winner of which would get custody of Rey’s son, Dominik Mysterio. During the same interview, the wrestling legend was asked who pitched the idea to put his son’s custody on the line for that match.

The Raw superstar revealed that the idea came from Bruce Prichard and Eddie Guerrero himself. While he was not sure if anybody else had input on the matter, those two brought it to him. He went along with the idea, thinking that it sounded cool.

The former WWE Champion was unsure if his future WrestleMania opponent would agree to it. He, along with Guerrero and Prichard, spoke to his son together. Dominik Mysterio eventually agreed to the idea after money was involved.
