As he recently posted the backdrop of Cristiano Ronaldo‘s jersey on Instagram, John Cena reminded everyone that he only had 7 dates remaining on his WWE farewell tour. It’s been quite the ride since January, when it all began. The stint has had its ups and downs, but there’s a particular moment that made one of Cena’s old rivals, Rey Mysterio, sick to the stomach.

And that was none other than the one where the Peacemaker actor went low on Cody Rhodes at The Rock‘s behest. Mysterio discussed it while appearing on this week’s edition of the Raw Recap with hosts Sam Roberts and Megan Morant.

‘The Master of 619’ said that he didn’t envision Cena stooping to unprecedented lows. The former LWO leader’s conscience couldn’t make him pick sides, as he was completely divided over the heel turn.

The day I saw John Cena turn on Cody, I was sick to my stomach. I couldn’t believe it. But I didn’t see it coming, so that kind of… I had 50/50 partial feelings on what was going on. Because if I didn’t see it coming, that means it was done very well.…….

Mysterio, however, also praised the characters involved in that segment for masterfully doing their work, as he was legitimately shocked. The WWE Hall of Famer then segued into the SummerSlam classic that Cena had with Rhodes, saying it was incredible and he enjoyed it personally.

The high-flying legend revealed not being backstage for the show, and he instead watched it from the comfort of his home. It made him realize a few things, which one isn’t able to do when one’s at the arena.

While the ‘Biggest Little Man in WWE history’ didn’t go into the specifics of it, Mysterio said he texted both Cena and Rhodes afterwards and congratulated them for putting on such an entertaining affair. Veteran wrestling journalist and historian Dave Meltzer rated it five stars, which was only the second time for a match where ‘The Cenation Leader’ was involved.

Logan Paul comments on his ‘banger’ showdown with John Cena

Back on August 31, Logan Paul stepped into the ring with John Cena at Clash in Paris. Even though the social media sensation wrestled his heart out in a bid to topple the same 17-time world champion, the latter was just too good to go down that night. Now that enough time has passed, ‘The Maverick’ reflected on his learnings from the match.

Paul talked about them at length during the latest episode of his IMPAULSIVE podcast. The former US champion had realized halfway through their match how insanely adept John Cena was between those ropes. Addressing the section of his audience that doesn’t follow pro wrestling enough to know the intricacies of it, Paul affirmed that the said craft is extremely difficult.

So while he was in the midst of that battle with the Hollywood mogul, Paul said he felt like he was at school and tried picking every little thing he could. The erstwhile boxer also brought up the post he made on X a few days ago.

The elder Paul brother had mentioned in it that Cena wrestles better than Pablo Picasso used to paint. Also, the 30-year-old from Westlake admitted that he was physically exhausted by lifting Cena up a number of times in their bout.

Although I did not come away with the victory I did come away with more victories that I can count in terms of what I learned in this sport and hopefully the respect that I gained….

‘The Maverick’ got married a couple of weeks before this encounter. This is why Paul couldn’t train for a week or so as hard as he would’ve normally done. Despite losing, the PRIME co-founder was gracious for the opportunity to wrestle Cena on his retirement tour. Paul noted that he came out of Paris with more victories than he could count in terms of what he learned from that experience.

The IMPAULSIVE host also hoped for himself that he earned a certain level of respect from the WWE Universe. He received some major props from John Cena during the Clash in Paris post-show. ‘The Prototype’ has said many a time that Paul would be counted amongst some of the all-time greats if he were to invest his heart and soul into fine-tuning himself as a better pro wrestler.
