Rhea Ripley tied the knot with AEW wrestler Buddy Matthews in June 2024. However, it seems that they postponed their honeymoon to a later date due to their busy wrestling schedules. Recently, Ripley revealed on her Instagram account that they commenced their honeymoon a few days ago.
Since then, the WWE Women’s World Champion has shared photos from their cozy trip to their home country of Australia. In her latest photo drop, Ripley and Matthews could be seen enjoying their time off from wrestling with their family. The duo traveled to the Land Down Under last week ahead of Matthews’ marquee match.
Last Saturday, Matthews competed in front of his home country at AEW Grand Slam: Australia. The Hounds of Hell member squared off against Kazuchika Okada for the Continental Title. Despite taking Okada to his limits, Matthews fell short after a low blow and a Rainmaker combination.
Interestingly, Ripley was spotted by a few fans in attendance for the show. The Eradicator has previously been in attendance for her husband at the rival company’s shows. For instance, Ripley was backstage at last year’s Double or Nothing during her injury hiatus from WWE.
Needless to say, the popular wrestling couple hasn’t shied away from expressing their love for each other publicly. Ripley and Matthews met in WWE in 2021 and began dating before the latter’s departure from the company. Despite being in different companies, the duo’s bond remained strong as they tied the knot after almost three years.
With the couple’s honeymoon nearing its end, both Ripley and Matthews will shift focus to their respective journeys in wrestling. Buddy Matthews, along with Brody King, has set their eyes on tag team gold. Meanwhile, Rhea Ripley will be live on tomorrow’s Raw episode with a message for someone.
Rhea Ripley set to defend Women’s World Title against IYO SKY on next week’s Raw
A few weeks back on Raw, IYO SKY competed against Liv Morgan in an Elimination Chamber qualifier. Just when SKY had the match won, however, Rhea Ripley interfered and inadvertently handed Morgan a DQ win. A dejected SKY confronted Ripley for crushing her WrestleMania dreams before walking off.
On the following edition of the red brand, Ripley approached SKY backstage, revealing that she’d put her title on the line. Furthermore, their championship match would be taking place on the Raw after the Elimination Chamber PLE.
This will mark the first match between Ripley and SKY since their arrival on the main roster. Meanwhile, both stars will also keep a close eye on the Women’s Elimination Chamber, which determines who takes on the Women’s World Champion at WrestleMania.
