John Cena’s entire retirement tour has been about him dethroning Ric Flair, who holds the record for the most number of world championship victories. The 47-year-old even made a mention to the Hall of Famer on Raw. However, despite catching a stray, it appears that the 79-year-old did not mind too much.

Speaking with TMZ, Flair claimed that the promotion was trying to get rid of his iconic catchphrase “Woo!” for nearly 50 years. He claimed that it wasn’t going anywhere, and neither was he from the WWE history books. In fact, he was thankful that he was still being talked about in the wrestling world to this day. He was thankful for the life he had lived, especially after the major health scare that he suffered in 2019.

Despite being called out in Cena’s latest promo on Raw, Flair said that turning the Hollywood Superstar into a heel was the “coolest thing they could have done.” In fact, he was even rooting for the Cenation leader to win the 2025 Men’s Royal Rumble match to earn his title shot at WrestleMania.

Flair has also said in the past that he doesn’t mind John Cena winning his 17th world championship and breaking the record. Furthermore, he was even going to be present in the live crowd at WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas to witness the moment himself. He will also be cheering for his daughter, Charlotte Flair, as she laces up her boots to go against Tiffany Stratton.

Bully Ray is confused after John Cena mentions Ric Flair on Raw

Since turning heel, John Cena’s promos on Raw have featured him talking a lot about his dysfunctional relationship with his fans. There is even less mention of Cody Rhodes when the latter isn’t in the ring. The Rock hasn’t even been talked about at all. However, he did mention erasing Ric Flair from the history books after winning his 17th World Championship.

Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Bully Ray said that he found it very interesting that Cena mentioned Flair by name. He could’ve just gotten away with mentioning that he would break the record. However, he didn’t have to mention the record-holder himself. The ECW legend found it even more intriguing, considering that there has been no mention of The Rock, but the Nature Boy was referenced separately.

I found it interesting that he went out of his way to mention Ric Flair. Like, everybody knows. He could’ve just said 17-time World Champion. He didn’t have to mention Flair’s name, but he did. And I’m wondering why.

Ric Flair has become a highly controversial figure over the past few years. Thus, WWE likes to refrain from taking his name as much as they can. Furthermore, he also had a brief stint with AEW. His energy drink, Wooooo Energy, was also a sponsor of the Jacksonville-based promotion.

Eric Bischoff believes Karrion Kross should join John Cena and The Rock

When John Cena joined forces with The Rock to turn heel at Elimination Chamber, the Hollywood duo was also joined by Travis Scott. Many wrestling figures have claimed that the American rapper is a highly odd addition to this faction. He has also been severely criticized for not holding back his punches against Cody Rhodes and legitimately injuring him. Instead, Eric Bischoff suggests that someone else should take his place.

Speaking on his 83 Weeks podcast, Bischoff said that Karrion Kross could tremendously benefit from joining forces with the Hollywood duo. He believed that the White Rabbit’s character was slightly off and needed some fine-tuning. After all, he was a dangerous wrestler who was good in the ring, and his mysterious personality was highly intriguing. The former Raw GM said that bringing a little more authenticity to his character could do wonders for him.

His character to me feels like it’s off about three degrees. It just needs to be fine-tuned a little bit. He’s a dangerous guy, he’s good in the ring.

Kross has acted as a devil on the shoulder for many wrestlers. For instance, he was regularly seen alongside The Miz and The New Day before they turned heel last year. Of course, he wasn’t seen with Cena before he became a bad guy. Regardless, putting him alongside the 16x World Champion would benefit him tremendously.
