The 2024 NASCAR Cup season marked one of the most controversial championship wins in the history of the sport. Team Penske Racing’s Joey Logano won the title, marking his third Bill France Cup victory. But not everyone in the racing community was happy with the triumph, mainly on the social media side.
Many were quick to discredit the No:22 Ford drivers’ win, blaming the playoff format for his win. It was because of the fact that Joey Logano won the title, despite having a pretty average regular season and R12, owing to his luck and peaking at the right time. Ex-NASCAR racer Rick Mast has recently come forward calling out the fans trying to discredit the champion.
He pointed out that Joey Logano should be celebrated like every champion before him, who won just like he did, taking advantage of the playoff system and the rules. Mast asserted that the NASCAR community should credit the veteran ad celebrate them 100 more that what they have done instead of criticising.
Rick Mast blames social media for the Joey Logano hate
While earlier talking about how NASCAR fans don’t appreciate clutch moments, like other sport fans, Mast pointed out that the criticism on social media was the major reason behind black cloud over the 2024 season. He told co-host Charlie Marlow that he 100% aggress with the claim the Logano’s clutch performance isn’t celebrated enough.
The comments from Mast are something a significant group of fans feels but doesn’t necessarily show. Logano won the championship playing by the same rule as everyone else and deserves the credit regardless of the issue format has.
