Robert Whittaker is hoping to dominate against Kelvin Gastelum in the main event fight tonight at UFC Vegas 24. The former middleweight champion is coming off two consecutive wins and would be more than happy to make it 3 wins in a row as he faces Gastelum on April 17th.

Robert Whittaker is coming off two consecutive wins against Jared Cannonier and Darren Till in the year 2020. Ever since he lost his belt to the current champion Israel Adesanya, the Kiwi has not shown any signs of decline in his fighting performance. This is the second time Whittaker and Gastelum are scheduled to fight.

Robert spoke to the media recently ahead of UFC Vegas 24. He spoke about his opponent and speaks highly of him. “I’m hoping I can go out and dominate him, but I’m expecting an absolute war,” Whittaker said. “We’re both very well-rounded. He’s got dangerous power. He can wrestle, grapple. He’s tough as nails. I can do the same. Yeah, I expect the worst, hope for the best.”

Kelvin Gastelum has a record of 17-6-0 in his career and is coming off an impressive win against Ian Heinisch at UFC 258. Gastelum finally broke his 3-fight losing streak in February against Ian. Kelvin will looking to get back on track and aim for a title shot.

Robert Whittaker and Kelvin Gastelum were previously scheduled to fight each other at UFC 234 in 2019. The fight was canceled unfortunately as ‘The reaper’ was forced to pull off from the fight due to emergency surgery. Both the fighters will meet on April 17th at UFC Vegas 24 after 2 years.

In the media day Whittaker talks about his recent development and the state he is now. “The real thing is I’m a very different beast than I was back then,” Whittaker said. “I feel like from a technical point of view, I’m a much more complete athlete – but as well as the mental game, which only reinforces all of that. It’s just never been better.”
