Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner have added a new flair to tennis and they are the two most outstanding players this year. With the duo winning seven titles combined this year, tennis legend Rod Laver believes the game is in good hands.

They have emerged as two new figures in tennis, especially since the Big 3. They have been the driving force of the men’s game recently, playing scintillating tennis that has attracted more fans. Sinner continued his end-of-last-year brilliance by winning his maiden Grand Slam in Melbourne in January. The Italian won the Rotterdam Open and Masters 1000 title beating Grigor Dimitrov in Miami.

Before Wimbledon, he won his first grass title in Germany, defeating Hubert Hurkacz. On the other, Alcaraz won his maiden French Open in June defeating Alexander Zverev. He consolidated his place among tennis greats by beating former World No.1 Novak Djokovic to defend his Wimbledon title.

Rod Laver admitted that the future of men’s tennis embodied by Alcaraz and Sinner, are the two symbols of the new era of tennis.

Jannik Sinner is now world number 1, he has won a Grand Slam. For such a young player, he has a consistent game, he's going to continue to grow and improve because that's what he wants. It is difficult to know whether he or Alcaraz will be more successful. It’s a very fresh rivalry. Carlos showed great mental strength, Jannik is more sober and very calm. They will be the two symbols of this new era of tennis.

The duo will represent their respective countries at the Paris Olympics which kickstarts on July 27. Alcaraz and Sinner will be favorites to win the gold medal at the biggest international event.

The 37-year-old won his opening singles match at the Nordea Open in Bastad yesterday as he aims to win his first title in nearly two years. Speaking after the victory, he admitted that Alcaraz has the potential to be one of the best players in the game.

My impression is that we are talking about a player who is going to be one of the best in history. That is my feeling. He is a player with enormous potential.
