“Roger Federer is the best player in the history of tennis,” Ferrero picks the Swiss ahead of Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic as the greatest ever

Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic, popularly nicknamed as the ‘Big Three of Tennis‘ are arguably one of the greatest tennis stars of our generation. The trio share a combined of 57 Grandslams between them. The aspect of their game which separates them from the rest is their sheer quality which they produce during the tensest moments in the matches.
A research conducted by Craig O’Shannessy, coach and pioneer of match analysis shows that the Big Three players have won as much as just 55% of their total points played, but their success is dependent upon their quality of points rather than the quantity of points.
In a recent interview, Juan Carlos Ferrero, former French Open champion pointed out to the fact that the Big Three players are the greatest of all time. “They (Big 3) are definitely the top 3 players in history,” Ferrero said. However, the Spaniard added that according to him, Roger Federer was the greatest player among the three.

Juan Carlos Ferrero faced Roger Federer 13 times in his career, losing on ten occasions. The Spaniard stated that the Swiss was the only player who made him feel lower on court. “Roger Federer is the only person who makes me feel lower on the court, and is the best player in history for me!” he said.
The Spaniard also added praise for Novak Djokovic, calling him the most compact player out of the Big Three. “Novak Djokovic is the most compact of the three, physically suffering little disability. He is a very good athlete with height, weight and great flexibility. He also plays well on all surfaces. (He) is one of the few players who put Rafael Nadal’s head in trouble,” he added.
Ferrero showered praise on his countryman, Rafael Nadal calling him the mentally strongest player on tour. “Rafa is also physically good to do his best and mentally, the best of the three,” Ferrero added.
