Tennis legend Roger Federer sent his fans into a frenzy as he took to the tennis court in Berlin ahead of the 2024 Laver Cup. As the two teams, Team Europe and Team World, get ready to take on each other for the title, Federer entertained the crowd at the stadium by hitting a few single-handed backhand slices.

Federer retired in 2022 at the same tournament. Since then, whenever the Swiss maestro returns to the Laver Cup, there is a lot of anticipation and it has not been any different this time. As expected, he lived up to the expectations, hitting the court in Berlin.

Roger Federer makes his prediction for 2024 Laver Cup

Roger Federer, who played for Team Europe until he retired in 2022, made his prediction for this year’s Laver Cup. The 43-year-old said that Team Europe looks like the favorite as it is stacked up. Team World broke Team Europe’s streak by winning the Laver Cup for the first time in 2022 and defended it last year.

Federer feels Team Europe looks good and hopes that most of the singles matches will go its way. However, the 20-time Grand Slam champion did not want to undermine Team World’s strengths and predicted them to win the doubles matches.

I think that Team Europe is very strong this year, it’s stacked. I think we are – I always talk as we, because I’m Europe- in the singles matches, we are heavy favorites even though I know that Team World has great players right now that are red hot and playing super well, I still think most of the matches in singles are going to go Team Europe’s way and then the doubles, I feel like most are going to go Team World’s way.

Federer is also excited to see how Alexander Zverev, a four-time Laver Cup champion, fares in front of his home crowd in Berlin. He said that he was also excited to see Carlos Alcaraz play from close quarters and even plans to apologize to the Spaniard.

Notably, Alcaraz will be making his debut at the prestigious tournament. The Spaniard has been picked for Team Europe alongside Zverev, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Daniil Medvedev, Grigor Dimitrov, Casper Ruud, Flavio Cobolli, and Jan-Lennard Struff.
