Roger Federer shared his concerns about Rafael Nadal‘s health after the Spaniard’s straight-sets loss to Nuno Borges in the Bastad Open final. It was a hard match for the Spaniard, who was playing in his first tournament since the French Open.

Nadal returned to action at the beginning of the year to play out his final season on the ATP tour. However, he suffered an injury on his return and had to spend more time on the sidelines. Keeping the Paris Olympics in mind, he trained and recovered accordingly, targeting his return to coincide with the quadrennial event.

Nadal took part in the French Open, where lost 3-6, 6(5)-7, 3-6 to Alexander Zverev in the first round. He took a break and competed at the Bastad Open. After running through the rounds with some improved tennis, he reached the final where Nuno Borges stood between him and his first title in over two years.

Unfortunately, Nadal fell short against the Portuguese and suffered a straight-sets defeat. His rival and close friend Federer was shocked to hear about this result.

Three and two. Oh, God—yeah. I saw he was down 1-0, love-40. That’s the last time I checked, a few hours ago, but when I saw the score, I was like, Oh, no—I hope his body is okay. So, yeah

Moreover, the Swiss maestro revealed that he did not watch the entire match but liked to keep track of the scores. Furthermore, he stated that there was a lot of soccer being watched at his home and hoped to catch the Olympics as well, where Nadal and Djokovic both played.

Roger Federer remains mum after Novak Djokovic’s historic Paris Olympics feat

Roger Federer is one of the few tennis greats who remained mum after Novak Djokovic‘s historic achievement at the Paris Olympics. The Serbian fought hard at the Summer Games, where he beat Rafael Nadal in the second round and cruised past the others to land himself in the final.

Up against Carlos Alcaraz, the Serbian kept the momentum flowing and downed him with relative ease. Despite not being at his 100%, Djokovic managed to win 7-6(3),7-6(2) and clinch the maiden gold for Serbia in tennis. With that, he also completed a career Golden Slam.

Many tennis greats congratulated the Serbian for his incredible achievement. Some of the notable included Andy Roddick, Rafael Nadal, and Martina Navratilova, to name a few. Even his final opponent, Alcaraz, had a few words to tell. However, Federer has not said anything publicly to date.
