A few months ago, it would’ve been hard to imagine Roman Reigns helping Cody Rhodes win against his family, let alone a match. Last Saturday, the unthinkable happened. Reigns made his return to WWE in the main event of SummerSlam and took out his former right-hand man, Solo Sikoa. In the process, the Head of the Table assisted Rhodes in retaining the Undisputed WWE title. Following the bout, Reigns sent a bold message to his adversary.
WWE released a new clip on X of The Tribal Chief warning Rhodes. The footage shows the latter celebrating his win while Reigns looks on from the ramp. Moreover, the former Shield member made his intentions of taking back his championship clear to The American Nightmare. While Reigns pointed to, presumably, the title, Rhodes pointed with three fingers to the belt around his waist. In response, the Samoan showed off his t-shirt, which had “OTC” written on it.
At WrestleMania XL, Rhodes and Reigns clashed in one of the greatest matches of the modern era. In an interference- and shenanigan-filled battle, the Grandson of a Plumber finished his story. For the first time in his career, Cody Rhodes was Undisputed WWE Champion. Meanwhile, the record-breaking champion walked to the back as he shared an emotional embrace with his Wiseman, Paul Heyman.

Following the monumental main event, the landscape of SmackDown changed. Rhodes continued to dominate as the top babyface on the roster. However, Sikoa took over the reins of The Bloodline, kicking out Jimmy Uso and Heyman. In addition to that, he brought in three new names to the faction and proclaimed himself as The Tribal Chief. Needless to say, Roman Reigns returning to cost Sikoa didn’t come as a surprise to many.
Roman Reigns will have to wait a little longer for a rematch against Cody Rhodes
Although Roman Reigns has promised to come after Cody Rhodes and the championship, the latest episode of SmackDown saw both stars move in different directions. In the opening segment, Rhodes offered Kevin Owens a title shot for helping him with The Bloodline over the past two years.
Despite Owens continuously refusing, Nick Aldis made the match official for Bash in Berlin. In fact, Aldis and Rhodes baited The Prizefighter by mentioning Reigns’ rematch clause. Meanwhile, The Tribal Chief once again took care of business in the closing angle of the show.
The Samoan single-handedly brutalized Solo Sikoa and The Bloodline. Reigns decimated the Tongans with a steel chair and steps, taking out both men. At the end, he stared down at his former Enforcer, making a bold statement in front of him.
