Cody Rhodes defended his WWE Undisputed Championship against Solo Sikoa in a Bloodline Rules match at SummerSlam. For both superstars, the match was about more than the title. The American Nightmare was looking for revenge after The Bloodline had taken out his friends, Kevin Owens and Randy Orton. Furthermore, the Samoan wanted to be acknowledged as the true Tribal Chief of his family ahead of Roman Reigns.

Although the match started off relatively normally without any interference or the use of weapons, it was only a matter of time before fans would get to witness more superstars get involved. Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa made their way to the ring to beat down the champion.

However, Randy Orton and Kevin Owens soon followed in an attempt to even the odds. When the ring cleared out of the outside participants, Jacob Fatu made his entrance and put Cody Rhodes through the announce table.

When both competitors lay lifeless in the ring, Roman Reigns made his much-awaited return to WWE. He made his way to the ring and immediately hit Sikoa with a Superman Punch. Further, he landed a spear on his former stablemate. The 39-year-old gave a stern look to the American Nightmare and walked away.

The WWE Undisputed Champion got up and hit his opponent with a Cross Rhodes. He kept staring at Reigns on the ramp while going for the pin and even after winning the match. As the show went off the air, Reigns continued to stare at the American Nightmare. Meanwhile, Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu lay by ringside, screaming with frustration.

WWE Universe goes bonkers after Roman Reigns makes his return at SummerSlam during Cody Rhodes vs Solo Sikoa

The wrestling world went bonkers upon seeing Reigns’ much-anticipated return to the promotion. The Tribal Chief had been off WWE TV since losing his WWE Undisputed Championship at WrestleMania XL. During his absence, Solo Sikoa took over the Samoan faction by kicking out Paul Heyman and Jimmy Uso and bringing in his own members.

Reigns will likely be a babyface going forward, a role that the Samoan has not played in half a decade. Fans on social media clearly did not mind this, and they cannot wait to cheer on behalf of the Tribal Chief. He received a thunderous pop when his music hit the arena. Furthermore, the entire crowd seemed to roar alongside him before he hit Sikoa with the spear.

Netizens immediately started speculating where this story could be headed. The likely scenario going forward is a Bloodline WarGames match in November. Furthermore, there is still ambiguity regarding Reigns and Rhodes. Although the former WWE Undisputed Champion did not put his hands on the American Nightmare, he surely must not have forgotten their intricate history.
