Roman Reigns has been cast in Amazon MGM Studios’ action-comedy movie titled The Pickup. As per Deadline, the Tim Story-directed film will be headlined by the likes of Eddie Murphy, Pete Davidson, and Keke Palmer in lead roles. It’d premiere on Prime Video on August 6. Apart from this, The Tribal Chief of WWE is already in talks to star in the live-action adaptation of Street Fighter.
Reigns, if the deal materializes, will join Jason Momoa, Andrew Koji, and Noah Centineo, among other cast members. It seems like the former Undisputed WWE Champion, who turned 40 last week, is slowly transitioning into that less physical form of entertainment he’d talked about during a Vanity Fair interview prior to WrestleMania 41.
Back then, he revealed that his ongoing WWE contract was due to expire after next year’s WrestleMania. While he didn’t say he’d retire after that, The OTC made it clear that he would probably wrestle for another year or two before calling it quits on his in-ring career. The record-setting WWE Champ’s schedule has been in a regress since WrestleMania 38 itself.

It’s not a clandestine state of affairs that Reigns is on lifelong chemotherapy for his battle with leukemia. While he remains one of the best physiques in the business, the Head of the Table doesn’t operate at the same work rate he was once hailed for. In 2025, Reigns has only had one singles match, which was a win over Solo Sikoa on the Netflix premiere of Raw. It helped The OTC regain control over the Ula Fala.
When could one expect Roman Reigns to make his WWE return?
Ever since that vile betrayal by his long-standing wiseman Paul Heyman at WrestleMania 41, Roman Reigns hasn’t been the same. He did make an appearance on the subsequent Raw episode only to get flattened by Bron Breakker, who was revealed as Seth Rollins‘ newest recruit back then.
Not only Reigns but also CM Punk was grounded by the Heyman-backed alliance of Rollins and Breakker, which has now added the services of “Big” Bronson Reed. Reigns currently finds himself outnumbered against his eternal rival.

At Saturday Night’s Main Event, Punk, alongside Sami Zayn, succumbed to Rollins and Breakker after Reed’s thunderous return. The Auszilla annihilated Punk with a tsunami after shaking hands with The Visionary and the rest of his crew. Rollins qualified for the men’s Money in the Bank ladder match on Raw this past Monday and is now headed to Los Angeles on June 7.
There’s growing speculation within the wrestling circles on social media that Reigns might cost Rollins at the PLE itself. It’d automatically position The Tribal Chief as the missing piece of the puzzle as the much-needed backup for Punk and Zayn. WWE seems to be building towards a massive six-man tag team match with Reigns, Punk, and Zayn taking on Rollins, Breakker, and Reed at a major show, which could quite possibly be SummerSlam.
Cody Rhodes is floored by Roman Reigns’ timeless aging
Cody Rhodes has emerged as quite potentially the greatest antagonist Roman Reigns has had in WWE, right up there with Seth Rollins. The American Nightmare was involved in a lengthy, tormenting, and emotional two-year-long rivalry with The OTC that culminated with Rhodes ending Reigns’ 1316-day WWE title reign at WrestleMania XL.

The American Nightmare, however, seems impressed with the former Bloodline boss’ overall looks for a man who’s just turned 40. Rhodes had his wife, Brandi, on his What Do You Wanna Talk About podcast and emphasized that Reigns has aged beautifully.

While his wife was reluctant to admit it at first, she eventually praised Reigns’ Vanity Fair photoshoot. These great rivals also teamed up last year at Bad Blood. Putting their differences aside, the Reigns and Rhodes duo dispatched Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu before being confronted by The Rock.
