This offseason, the Chicago Bears drafted two rookies in the first overall round of the 2024 Draft and handed them key roles in the offense. While Caleb Williams is given the starting quarterback role, Rome Odunze is expected to show his prowess in the starting offense.

With these two additions and some major offensive weapons, the Bears are expected to join the contender race in the coming 2024 season. Amid the high expectations for Williams, many believe rookie receiver Odunze would prove himself as Chicago’s GOAT receiver. Kay Adams outed herself as one of those supporters of Odunze during a recent interview with him.

I appreciate that, that's big goals to strive for. That's definitely on my list. It's going to take some time, hard work and dedication. That sounds good. When it's all said and done if that's where I'm at I'll be happy with that career. That's high hopes, but we'll get it done.

Although it’s a bold statement given he didn’t play a single snap in the NFL, the standards in Chicago aren’t that high. The all-time leader in receiving yards in Chicago is Johnny Morris with a record of 5,059 passing yards, followed by Harlon Hill with 4,616, and Alshon Jeffery with 4,549.

Odunze is ultimately confident that his name would be included among the elite receivers in the Bears, but Adams has a firm belief that his name will be at the very top especially when is part of the brilliant squad with DJ Moore and Keenan Allen

Caleb Williams confident in pairing with Rome Odunze

The expectations from Williams and Odunze have heightened ever since they connected on an impressive 45-yard reception during the Bears’ preseason 27-3 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals. And the rookie quarterback, as well, has expressed high confidence in his pairing with Odunze.

The USC standout believes since he and the rookie wideout were drafted together in the first over of the 2024 NFL Draft, they are building a great connection and continue to grow together. Having such emerging talents in the team in the competing NFC North signifies a new opportunity for the team and take full advantage of it.

We're going to be explosive. We're two rooks, but we're trying to catch up to the old guys as fast as we can to make sure that we're right there on par with them to be able to be efficient, function, go out there and be explosive, be on the same page and win games.

The Bears’ No. 9 overall pick has earned the reputation of being a perfectionist as he was one of the only three receivers on display during the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine, who didn’t leave the field until he successfully completed the 3-cone drill to his satisfaction. When it comes to playing football, Odunze and Williams share the same mindset and together they can significantly boost Chicago’s pursuit of excellence.
