Veteran play-by-play Joe Rogan has two octagon moments etched in history that give him the chills. One is Leon Edwards’ UFC 278 post-fight “Look at me now” warcry. Another one would be at UFC 190, where he went teary-eyed interviewing Ronda Rousey. Rogan has long hyped up Ronda Rousey as probably the best in the sport. Hence, it is shocking when every such acquaintance alienates ‘Rowdy.’

Rousey took the world by storm during the promotional media tour of her new memoir Our Fight. In a sitdown with YouTuber Valeria Lipovetsky, she divulged she was concussed before her UFC 193 women’s bantamweight title fight. However, the victor Holly Holm dissed her alleged excuses and dismissed Rousey’s cognitive impairment. Moreover, no other friends or peers, including supporters like Joe Rogan, reached out on the incident.

It was disappointing to see how happily everyone turned on me. People like Joe Rogan...who was crying in the ring out of the honor to call my fights, people I considered friends in the media...so quickly turned on me...I'm also kind of grateful for it, It forced me to separate other people's perception of me, from my own perception of myself...MMA media hates me, No, not a single person has called me or anything like that.

Rogan is famous for his animated and exaggerated reactions, hyping up stuff, and living out the “hyperbole.” Hence, it’s no wonder he’d do the same for Rousey. 12-2-0, she was the first female combatant at UFC 157 and dominantly finished opponents until her first defeat at the hands of Holm. It’s understandable where Rogan’s fanboy moments come from.

However, he later did a 180 and said Rousey’s devastating career loss against Holly Holm was a necessity in step. In a following JRE MMA Show segment, he also said that, in a way, it made things ease out. His hype around the fighter had earned him major backlash from fans. Rogan also sought the idea that the 14-fight veteran has lived past her best output.

Ronda Rousey says Joe Rogan and the media have never corrected their stance on her

Joe Rogan and Ronda Rousey have been linked through the years. Rogan criticized the UFC for bizarre promotions of Rousey. The play-by-play commentator also dared to prompt her quick return after UFC 175, earning substantial wrath. However, much has changed since then. Rousey recently revealed to talkSport that she had fallen a flight of stairs before her 2015 title fight. Adhering to the usual peer pressure, she kept silent about it.

She rallied to a comeback bout against Amanda Nunes on Dec. 30, 2016. She kept the media mutiny going, hiding the details. Now, fans and peers (including Holly Holm) have said Rousey blew things out of proportion and not acclimating to her washing out. Even Rogan had already insinuated that the burden of her charisma had taken the form of expletive egotism, causing her downfall.

‘Rowdy’ says it moreover hurts because the likes of Rogan were considerably her friends. Consequently, she also mentions none of them have reached out after she detailed her history of concussions.

No, [Nobody corrected themselves]...They've all just doubled down and said that I'm making excuses, or lying...or blowing things out of proportion or not giving credit where it's due... I'll be waiting for that call forever...That's what I get. I get 'fu*k you.' [laughs] I would rather not have those fake friendships in my life, I would rather that those people expose themselves...

The MMA media has yet to address Rousey’s concussion claims after falling from the stairs. Moreover, Rousey has not only taken shots at WWE as well. Though Logan Paul responded to her from the WWE, the MMA media and Rogan have chosen to stay silent.
