It’s been almost a year since Ronda Rousey quit WWE. And if anything time’s proved, she had developed quite a lot of ill-will for the company by the time she was done. Her relations with the then-WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon deteriorated once the 78-year-old was incessantly plagued with allegations of s*xual misconduct. Rousey recently had something to say about her ex-boss.
While speaking to Shakiel Mahjouri of CBS Sports, the former UFC ace affirmed that anyone’s better than Vince McMahon at running WWE. She then brought up the incumbent Chief Content Officer, Triple H, and how she enjoyed working under his supervision. Ronda further confirmed that she hasn’t caught up with what’s going on currently in WWE, but she did have a word with one of her best friends over there, Natalya.
The Baddest Woman on the Planet said Nattie told her that WWE recently ran a show with exactly the same number of women on the card as the men. Rousey thought it was cool, and that’s exactly what she wants out of the product. The 37-year-old clamored for equal representation of female talent, not just in quantity but also in terms of quality.
Well, I think anyone’s better than Vince McMahon. The only place you can go is up [laughs], I really enjoy Triple H and working with him. And honestly, I haven’t been watching, but I saw something from (Natalya) saying that they had a card recently that had just as many women on it as the men.Ronda Rousey via SHAK MMA
At a time when Ronda was a Women’s Tag Team Champion in WWE, she landed herself in hot waters when The Arm Collector adjudged the existing women’s division dismally shallow. Despite the initial exploits in her WWE run post-pregnancy, the former Judoka couldn’t keep up with the fans in the long run. From being a mainstay in the women’s title picture on whatever brand she was on, the ex-UFC Bantamweight Champion was eventually relegated to tag team shenanigans.
Ronda Rousey recently dropped the Drew Gulak bombshell
Earlier this year, Ronda Rousey made a shocking revelation that caused quite a stir in WWE for a while. The 2008 Olympics bronze medalist alleged former colleague Drew Gulak of misconduct. She said that Gulak once brazenly pulled the strings of her sweatpants while they were backstage.
The said incident transpired in the hallway, where there were people around them. Ronda’s comments ensued an internal probe into Drew. And eventually, the accused wrestler was released by WWE last month. Gulak was also labeled as a bully by his NXT peers.
At the post-show press conference of this year’s Backlash PLE in France, Triple H was also hit by this very query by one of the media correspondents in attendance. The latter was even scoffed at by a WWE rep present over there.
