Rory McIlroy, missed the cut at the 2024 Open Championship held at Royal Troon. After rounds of 78-75, McIlroy finished 11-over-par, missing the cut by five shots.
This disappointing performance comes just a month after McIlroy’s epic meltdown at the U.S. Open, where he missed two short putts on the final holes to lose the major. McIlroy had high hopes for the Open, having finished T6 and solo third in the previous two years.
On the fourth hole of the second round, McIlroy’s chances took a turn for the worse when he recorded a triple bogey. He now has 265 days to wait until the next major at the Masters.
Despite the setback, McIlroy remains optimistic. He reminded himself that he has accomplished more than he expected, with four major wins and 26 PGA Tour titles. McIlroy also has his sights set on the Olympics, where he hopes to win a gold medal.
