Four-time major winner Rory McIlroy is currently playing in the 2024 Genesis Scottish Open. He is tied for 8th place alongside Erik van Rooyen and Matteo Manassero. McIlroy won the 2023 edition of the Genesis Scottish Open with an overall score of -15.

Recently, McIlroy said in an interview with Telegraph Sport that he lives “on a golf course.” He mentioned that he realizes he needs to take a break and appreciate his career achievements and personal life more.

I live on a golf course and it’s so easy to just go out there at 7 pm and hit a few balls. So I think being able to just get away from it and give yourself that free headspace of not thinking about golf is a good thing. I’m committed to having more fun going forward.

Rory Mcilroy’s majors championship draught continues this season

Rory McIlroy started his season in the Middle East at the inaugural Dubai Invitational, where he held a one-shot lead heading into the final hole. The following week, he successfully defended his title at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, marking his fourth victory in the tournament overall.

After struggling early in the season, McIlroy won his first title of the season at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans with Shane Lowry in a playoff. This marked his 25th win on the PGA Tour. In his next start, he secured victory at the Wells Fargo Championship for the fourth time in his career, closing with a 6-under 65.

During the 2024 U.S. Open, McIlroy staged a comeback in the final round to take a two-stroke lead over Bryson DeChambeau. However, he bogeyed three of the final four holes, missing putts within four feet on both the 16th and 18th holes, extending his major championship drought to ten years.

McIlroy has won four major tournaments so far in his career, making him one of the greatest players of his age. He has also won 28 professional events worldwide, with 18 on the PGA Tour and 10 on the European Tour.

McIlroy has been rated world number one several times and won the FedEx Cup thrice. Remains to be seen if he will find his touch going forward in the season.
