Shane van Gisbergen is set to return to the track the his changed his career for ever this week. He will race in the Chicago Street Race for the second time and will be the racer to beat. SVG established himself in NASCAR when he won the Inaugural Cup race at the Chicago track in his NASCAR debut with Trackhosue Racing last season.

This made the three times Supercars champion a superstar overnight in the USA and influenced him to end his career in Australia, to move to the US to race full-time in NASCAR. Shane van Gisbergen is currently racing for the championship in the Xfinity Series with Kaulig Racing as a loan driver from Trackhouse and also has an extensive part-time Cup race entry schedule.

He went to highlight how good the racer is at road courses by pointing towards his two Xfinity wins this year.

Well, he’s a machine when it comes to preparation. I would say he’s kind of leading the charge for us in the simulator and getting it how he thinks it will be…He is an animal when it comes to road courses and we’ve seen that with his two Xfinity wins already this season. He’s that good.

Shane van Gisbergen is determined to get his maiden oval race win in NASCAR

The Kiwi driver while talking to the media ahead of the Chicago race, highlighted his one main goal. He wants to secure a race win in the oval, where NSASCAR race the most. All his three race wins in the sport has come in the road courses which comes natural for him.

I want to get better at the ovals. It'll be definitely awesome to win [an oval] race one day, but I know I'm a long way from that—winning one on merit. I know that I'm always going to be good on a road course. That'll just come naturally. It's the ovals I need to keep getting better at.

With SVG in the garage, Trackhouse would be the team to beat at Chicago. Chastain and his teammate Daniel Suarez are established road course winners and with the help of the defending race winner they can pull-off an impressive result.
