“Never been a part of group…” Rudy Gobert throws Utah Jazz under the bus by propping Timberwolves teammates
Gobert seems to be enjoying life in Minnesota after enjoying much success.
Rudy Gobert
With the Minnesota Timberwolves starting the Conference Semi-Finals with a win, their energy moving forward seems to be unmatched. Rudy Gobert, the 7-foot-1 center, had a spectacular performance in Game 1. Led by Anthony Edwards‘ dominant 43-point bomb, the Wolves emerged victorious on the road against the reigning champs.
Gobert spent most of his career in Utah, having played nine seasons for the Jazz. During his stint with the Jazz, Gobert teamed up with players like Donovan Mitchell, Jordan Clarkson, and Joe Ingles. With the Jazz, Gobert never went past the second round. While he enjoyed most of his success in Utah, Gobert clapped back at the Jazz in his recent interview.
I’ve never been part of a group that understands each other, that cares about one another, and wants to see each other shine. In this league, it’s not something that you find very often.Gobert via Dave McMenamin on X
Playing alongside Spida, Gobert won three Defensive Player of the Year awards. Not only that, but the Frenchman also led the team in blocks. However, his chemistry with Mitchell became an area of criticism for not making the Western Conference Finals. In recent years, Mitchell has downplayed the notion of having any beef with the Frenchman.
Looking at his tenure in Utah, Gobert’s last two years in Minnesota have remained crucial to helping Ant-Man and Karl-Anthony Towns make the playoffs. The Timberwolves, with Gobert, Edwards, and KAT, could make a serious push toward the final in the 2024 NBA Playoffs.
Nikola Jokic praised Rudy Gobert following Game 1
Gobert’s performance in Game 1 against the Denver Nuggets remained crucial. He put up 6 points, 13 points, and three blocks. Nikola Jokic talked about stopping Gobert in the paint by praising Wolves’ big men, including KAT, Gobert, and Naz Reid.
The Nuggets forwards include Aaron Gordon, Jokic, and Michael Porter Jr. However, the trio of forwards who are quite talented in scoring could not hold off the defensive wall. As such, Jokic could not take anything from Gobert for the monumental impact on the game. Check out what Jokic said below:
Both teams have a tough interior to go up against. The battle of the three-time DPOY and two-time MVP will be interesting to see moving forward in the series. Anthony Edwards has also been one of the most entertaining players to watch in this postseason.
As Game 2 is scheduled for Monday, the game remains interesting as the Nuggets aim to even out the series before hitting the road. The Joker and company will have to make adjustments if they need a chance at this series, considering Wolves’ defense in the paint.
