“We’ve been trying…” Rui Hachimura reveals Denver Nuggets’ advantage over Lakers
The Lakers haven't done a great job building the roster around LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

The Los Angeles Lakers have tried it all, however, they now face a 0-3 skid in the Playoffs first round. Players like Rui Hachimura, Austin Reaves, D’Angelo Russell, and others have been pretty inconsistent which has affected the squad in each game so far. On the other hand, LeBron James and Anthony Davis have led the team in almost every aspect, though it wasn’t enough to get past the Nuggets.
As they look forward to Game 4, Rui Hachimura shared his thoughts on how the squad has been struggling. Not only that but also they have gone through multiple changes, hoping to find a definite pattern to beat the Nuggets.
Clearly, we have to do something better. Of course, we’ve been trying. We’ve been watching a lot of film of them and we’re adjusting different coverage and all that. But, as a team, in my opinion, we just don’t have enough experience... They’ve been together for like 5 years.said Rui Hachimura via Michael Corvo on Twitter
Things haven’t gone well for Hachimura himself. The former Bulldog is putting up numbers below his season averages. However, highlighting the Nuggets having more experience might just not be enough of a reason for the Lakers’ 0-3 hole. In Game 2, the Lakers blew a 20-point lead, as the Nuggets rallied up in the second half.
Rui Hachimura’s take on the Nuggets was backed by Nikola Jokic
Following the Game 3 win on the road, Nikola Jokic talked about how the Nuggets formed their roster throughout the years. Jokic and Jamal Murray have been the core of the franchise, as the team revolved around these two in the last few years. In 2019, the Nuggets made their first dominant performance, going up against the Blazers in the second round. Though at the time, the roster wasn’t as well constructed as it is now.
Actually first was me and Garry Harris then me and Jamal, then we had the group and Jameer Nelson was here, Wilson Chandler. Well first of all you need to learn how to play and then when you get the core... You know you're just adding players that know how to play and know where to be and then you need to experience like two to three years together just to learn how to play with each other.said Nikola Jokic postgame
Looking at the Lakers from the same perspective, the franchise has made multiple adjustments around Anthony Davis and LeBron James. So far, the two have led the team past multiple teams, though their bench support and assets haven’t lived up to the team’s expectations.
Hachimura does make a great point of having more experience. Regardless, the Lakers had a great chance to tie the series or get their first win. With Game 4 right around the corner, the Lakers will look to avoid a sweep at home.
