The Kendrick Lamar X Drake beef tracks against each other have recently been a big topic in the American Music industry. Interestingly, Lamar was performing in his concert, “The Pop Out: Ken & Friends” held in Kia Forum at Inglewood, with Lamar also signing a diss track at Drake. Notably, renowned NBA player, Russell Westbrook was spotted dancing on the stage alongside Lamar on Drake’s diss track, this caused Drake’s biggest fan, DJ Akademiks to vent out his anger at Westbrook on air.
In a video that has been making rounds on the internet, Akademics is seen reacting to Lamar’s concert video live on YouTube. In addition, Akademiks spots Westbrook dancing on the stage with Lamar dissing Drake. Akademiks then lashes out at Westbrook on air, claiming “he will never win a ring”(NBA Championship).
Westbrook you'll never win a ring, n**ga, you'll never win a ringDJ Akademiks said on air
Akademiks’ hate towards Lamar was very evident as he is possibly one of Drake’s biggest fans and has been vocal about it in the industry. Also, Westbrook had to pay the price as he came into the spotlight, supporting Lamar at his concert.
On the other hand, Akademiks’ words do ring some bells for Westbrook and his side, the Los Angeles Clippers. Westbrook did not perform at his flying best in the 2023-24 NBA season and his search for an NBA ring goes on with the Clippers. It remains to be seen how the Clippers and Westbrook perform in the 2024-25 NBA season.
Russell Westbrook was not the only NBA star to attend Kendrick Lamar’s concert
Famous American musician Kendrick Lamar held his concert, “The Pop Out: Ken & Friends” at Kia Forum in Inglewood, with many known faces attending the decorated event. Despite, Russell Westbrook making headlines after DJ Akademiks called him out, he was not the only NBA star to attend the famous rapper’s concert.
NBA legends LeBron James, James Harden, DeMar DeRozan, and Westbrook were among the attendees at the concert. These basketball superstars, well-known for their connections to Los Angeles, were seen having a good time and mixing with other celebrities and fans.
LeBron James, who is usually seen at high-profile events, was spotted close to the stage during the performance by rapper YG. Westbrook and DeRozan, who are both from Los Angeles, were also seen dancing close to each other, evoking the local essence of the occasion.
