WATCH: “Head is on Pluto” – Russell Westbrook shoves Luka Doncic and PJ Washington as Mavs DESTROY Clippers in playoffs; fans react
Los Angeles Clippers face a tough task down 1-2 in the playoffs.
Russell Westbrook gets ejected after shoving Luka Doncic and PJ Washington in the Los Angeles Clippers vs Dallas Mavericks game today
Russell Westbrook and his Los Angeles Clippers had their season on the line as they took on the Dallas Mavericks. They knew that had to take at least one win on the road in the playoffs. To do that, they had to be at their best both on offense as well as defense. But it seems Russell Westbrook took the defense part too seriously on Luka Doncic and PJ Washington.
As the Los Angeles Clippers trailed by 16 points in the 4th quarter, Luka Doncic tried to drive to the paint. Only for Westbrook to grab him and spin him around. When Doncic tried to talk to the Clippers star about it, Westbrook just shoved him.
Seeing this, PJ Washington shoved Westbrook in defense of his teammate. Russell Westbrook turned around and shoved Washington and continued to jaw with him as referees tried to pull him away.
After checking the review, referees issued two technical fouls and ejected the former triple-double champion. It is understandable that frustrations got the better of him. But even then, had Westbrook maintained his cool, the Clippers still would have been in the fight.
In an uncharacteristically low-scoring game, four of the Los Angeles Clippers‘ leading players were struggling with 3 or more fouls. Now with him ejected, the Clippers could not rely on his clutch defense in the remaining minutes. Eventually losing the game.
Fans react to Russell Westbrook losing his mind
The Dallas Mavericks winning Game 2 in LA had already put the pressure on the Clippers. Therefore, the game tonight was crucial to determine who gets the momentum. Maybe that could be the reason for Russell Westbrook to go over the edge in trying to stop Luka Doncic from scoring. But his method ended up costing his team dearly.
No wonder fans were livid watching one of the hardest-working players in the game losing his mind on those plays. They took to social media to voice their opinions. Check some of them below:
Russell Westbrook will have to put the incident behind him and focus on Game 4. Another incident like this, and the Clippers will be in a difficult position to rebound in this playoff series.
