The defending champion Ryan Blaney came into the playoff on the back of consistent performances through out the season and established himself as a serious contender for the victory. The team has found themselves in a tough spot after the No:12 Ford driver got wrecked out on the first lap of the race at Watkins Glen
Corey LaJoie sent Kyle Busch spinning on the first lap of the race and it resulted in him multiple cars making contact and spinning. Ryan Blaney was collected in the wreck alongside fellow playoff driver Denny Hamlin and Christopher Bell. Unlike the other two The Penske car damage was too severe with all four of its tires getting flat.

Ryan Blaney came into the pits hoping to get back as soon as possible, but NASCAR made him park the car resulting in his DNF. He was asked to do so because of the fat that he couldn’t drive the car back to the pits. The 2023 champion was furious with the sanctioning body officials for not letting his team to even access what’s actually wrong with the car.
Give us a chance to fix it, how are they going to dictate if we’re done or not? They have no idea the damage. They said because I couldn’t drive it back to the pit box we’re done, but if you have four flats you get towed back to the pit box, you can’t drive it back. So, I don’t know what’s going on, why they won’t even give us a shot to work on it, but I don’t agree with it.Ryan Blaney said after the wreck at Glen.
Ryan Blaney admits the overall experience stinks for him
While talking about what went wrong for him, Blaney admitted that he is usure about it. He pointed out that he just got caught up in someone else’s mess, with broke the whole starring arm and added that he didn’t even know if the car was fixable when it came into the pits. Blaney is more frustrated about not getting a chance to try fixing it.
I don’t even know what happened honestly, stacked up, I caught someone on the left front and it completely broke the steering arm. I don’t know if we could have fixed it but that’s the frustrating part, just don’t even give us a chance you just end our day and you’re not letting us get to look at it before it’s in the garage? That just, stinks.Ryan Blaney said.
The Team Penske driver still has a 29-points advantage going into the next-round, but he can’t approach the next-round with the ease many of his fellow playoff driver can afford. He has to lock-in a top 10 finish to make it to the R-12 and get some momentum on his side.
