The best decision that the Washington Commanders took in many years was drafting Jayden Daniels using their second overall pick. Despite not having the spotlight as much as Caleb Williams, Daniels has surpassed Tom Brady and Peyton Manning’s records in just five games.

Standing atop in NFC East with a 4-1 record, the Commanders are being considered serious Super Bowl contenders– all because of rookie quarterback Daniels. While talking about the prominence he obtained in such a short duration, Ryan Clark drew a comparison between him and one of the top NFL quarterbacks, Lamar Jackson in one specific aspect.

Surprisingly, the sports analyst believes Daniels is already better than the Baltimore Ravens star, especially in passer ratings, believing the rookie has what it takes to win the grand Vince Lombardi Trophy.

I think Lamar Jackson is one of the best quarterbacks I’ve ever seen. Hes one of the greatest all-around football players that’s ever played in this league. Right now, today, in five games, Jayden Daniels is a better passer than Lamar Jackson.

Ryan Clark said during a recent episode of ESPN’s Get Up

Comparing the LSU product to a dual-threat quarterback such as Jackson certainly seems a bit of a stretch, the rookie can surpass his records in a few years. For now, the two-time NFL MVP leads with a 107.2 passer rating and a completion percentage of 65.3; meanwhile, Daniels has a 106.2 passer rating and 77.2 completion percentage.

Jayden Daniels emerges as Offensive Rookie of the Year favorite

Though Daniels may not be a better passer than Jackson statistically, he sure is the favorite to win the Offensive Rookie of the Year 2024. The Commanders’ luck in terms of quarterbacks has always fallen short as they didn’t have a franchise quarterback for a long time, until now. Not only he has won four of five games this season, but also ranked Washington at the top within the division.

Before surpassing Brady and Manning’s records, Daniels set the record of logging 80 rushing yards and one touchdown in his debut season. In week 3, he set an NFL record by having a completion percentage of 91.3 against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Given these achievements thus far, he was named the Rookie of the Month, last month in September. In his five games, he has logged 1,135 yards, four touchdowns, and two interceptions along with 300 rushing yards and four touchdowns. If the quarterback continues with this consistency, he might lead the team straight to the Super Bowl and earn the Rookie of the Year honor.
