In three games into his rookie NFL campaign, Jayden Daniels was starting to show why he was highly touted by some draft experts. While they lost their opening week matchup, the Commanders won two straight games, easing the former LSU star into a rhythm.
A rhythm that has helped the Washington Commanders QB etch his name alongside the great Tom Brady and Peyton Manning.
Jayden Daniels has played with that rhythm. He has thrown some highlight reel plays, but offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury has used a playbook that has his rookie throwing high-percentage throws.

Daniels did end up throwing one interception during their blowout win against Kingsbury’s former Arizona Cardinals tonight. But 26 of his 30 attempts through the air helped him notch an 82.1% completion percentage in his first 4 games. That just happened to be the best in NFL history.
In doing that, he passed both Tom Brady and Peyton Manning, who held the previous records. But what is staggering is that both those legends of the game did not set those numbers in their first seasons in the NFL. No one expected him to surpass two Hall of Famers in his first four games.
Before even considering that both legends won regular-season MVP awards in the years they posted those numbers, it’s clear Jayden Daniels still has a long way to join them in the all-time record books. However, if his current trajectory is any indication, he couldn’t have asked for a better start to his career.
Jayden Daniels leads Commanders to give his OC redemption
Kliff Kingsbury bore the brunt for his handling of the Arizona Cardinals during his time as their head coach. After his firing, many thought his career in the NFL as a coach was over. But after a brief stint with the USC Trojans, the Washington Commanders gave him a second chance.
He helped Jayden Daniels to not be bogged down by expectations and take a smarter approach to winning games. Tonight, against the Cardinals, Kingsbury had a chance to show that he was still one of the best offensive wizards in the game. He designed schemes that would help Daniels deliver high percentage throws to keep the chains moving.
He also used the running game to help his rookie QB bring back his confidence after that second-quarter interception. At the end, those schemes helped them blow the Cardinals in their own house. The perfect redemption for Kingsbury.
