Ryan Clark’s tweet has been getting a lot of attention following the incident on Saturday, when a man was reportedly shot and killed by federal agents/ICE in Minneapolis. Clark called the deceased man a “hero.”

According to reports from CNN and the New York Post, a 37-year-old Minneapolis resident, Alex Pretti, died due to a gunshot wound at 9:05 local time. Pretti, an Intensive Care Unit nurse at the Minneapolis VA Medical Center for around five years, reportedly tried to stop the Border Patrol agents from arresting a woman.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) stated that the officers acted in self-defense after Pretti allegedly approached them holding a gun.

Hours after the incident, Ryan Clark shared his thoughts with the rest of the world.

Ryan Clark’s honest opinion about Alex Pretti’s death

Bystanders and those close to Alex accused the authorities of lying, insisting that Pretti was holding his phone, not a firearm. That being said, the DHS shared a photo of a handgun on social media, which they said belonged to Pretti.

However, the local police Chief Brian O’Hara said at a news conference that Pretti was believed to be a lawful gun owner with a permit to carry.

Amidst the tension between the federal and local authorities, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem stated that Pretti flashed his gun at the officers and they only “responded according to their training.”

However, Pretti’s parents, Michael and Susan, refused to believe the slander spread by the authorities against their son. They called for the “truth” to come forward.

We are heartbroken but also very angry. The sickening lies told about our son by the administration are reprehensible and disgusting.

Pretti’s parents stated

Clark posted another tweet showing support for Pretti’s parents.

Rest Easy Alex Pretti. Bro was a hero. Prayers to his family & loved ones. Senseless death… AGAIN!!

Clark wasn’t the only one to speak out against ICE brutality. Former VP of the nation, Kamala Harris expressed grief after hearing about Pretti’s death.

Alex and tens of thousands of Minnesotans have boldly defended their neighbors against the murderous occupation of an American city by the federal government. I am enraged and heartbroken for Alex, his family, Minneapolis, and America.

Kamala Harris tweeted

Clark played 13 seasons in the NFL for the Pittsburgh Steelers and later for the Washington Commanders. In 177 appearances, Clark accumulated 938 tackles, 19 tackles for loss, 16 interceptions, 55 pass deflections, 4 forced fumbles, 8 forced returns and 4.0 sacks. He won a Super Bowl with the Steelers in 2008-09 season.

After retirement, Clark dove into broadcasting and content creation. He co-hosts The Pivot Podcast with former NFL players Channing Crowder and Fred Taylor.
