Ryan Garcia has $1 million for a “lucky girl” sitting in the front row for his upcoming fight. Garcia will take on Devin Haney this April for the WBC super lightweight title. He also has $100,000 for 12 more women who are present front row to cheer him at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
Ryan Garcia‘s fight against childhood rival Devin Haney has created a lot of buzz on social media. In what appears to be a promotional venture, Garcia took to social media to announce the big prize money for his cheerleaders. At first, Garcia posted the offer on X after which he took a screenshot and posted it on his Instagram story and wrote:
With all due respect! And yes I am serious! LETS GO.Ryan Garcia via Instagram
Garcia next posted a video of him declaring the prize of $1 million for a lucky girl number 13 just to come to the fight. Garcia ranked 58th on the list of highest-paid athletes in 2023, earning $40.5 million. His promoter Oscar De La Hoya recently declared in an interview with boxingnews247.com that Garcia will potentially make $30 million or even higher in his upcoming fight with Haney.
Haney and Garcia share a rivalry that goes back to their days in amateur boxing. Their fights have evolved into a more intense rivalry, especially as both fighters climbed the ranks in the world of professional boxing.
Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney’s face-off ends aggressively
Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney’s showdown is just around the corner. As such, the pair recently had a promotional face-off at the iconic Empire State Building in New York. Although nothing wild happened, the face-off did end aggressively as the two young athletes threw slurs at each other.
Haney with the WBC title approached Garcia and started thrash talking. Garcia came back harder and threw insults at Devin Haney’s mother. This led to a scuffle that saw Haney ultimately shove Ryan Garcia.
Haney and Garcia have reportedly fought a total of six times as amateurs. Garcia’s father even said that his son gave Devin Haney his first eight-count although Haney refuted this claim. It will be interesting to see what goes down in the boxing ring this April between the two young rivals.
