Ryan Garcia took to Twitter to respond to Devin Haney’s father Bill Haney’s ultimatum. Surprising no one, ‘King Ry’ rejected Haney Senior’s conditions, claiming he didn’t need them. The viral boxer has been on the rumor mill for a rematch ever since their April scrap at Barclays Center.
The Haneys accused Ryan Garcia of PED usage and cheating on the stem of results from the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA). The two parties have maintained quite a rivalry. Devin Haney even said that his marketability will be in shambles as his PPV sales will drop after the superimposed unnatural defeat. So, despite the Haney family’s apparent interest in a rematch, Garcia is unwilling to engage.
“We don’t duck fights or lawsuits. @RyanGarcia , you got 48 hours to enroll in VADA for the rematch. Clean competition, real standards. We’re always ready—are you? @Realdevinhaney stays focused, lawsuit or not. #NoExcuses #RealChampions #VADA #Rematch “#TeamHaney

You have to be dumb if you think ima listen to what bill Haney request

First of all they are suing me
Second of all I don’t need them at all
LMAO
The ultimatum in question, was for Garcia to voluntarily enter the VADA anti-doping pool within 48 hours. This would be in order for the rematch to be green-lit. Bill Haney came on strong defending the current “face of boxing” – ‘The Dream’ and how Garcia wronged his former stake as the WBC 140-lbs champ. Devin Haney also filed a lawsuit alleging assault, battery, fraud, etc. for his 12-round majority decision loss.
However, back to 24-1-1 (20 KOs), Ryan Garcia is still ESPN‘s sixth-best listed active junior welterweight and a top #3 welterweight. Seemingly, Garcia’s monumental fall from grace does not change that he is Haney’s biggest whale to make bank. While his other vices are reeling in, he is free to reapply for a license soon. Garcia had been amping up the chances of such a match. But now, he seems more interested in other ventures and opponents.
Bill Haney: Ryan Garcia is ‘blowing opportunity’ for rematch
Bill Haney has posted a video of his son, Devin Haney, working out in the gym. He told Ryan Garcia that he has “six hours” to submit to a drug test so that a rematch can take place. The ultimatum has failed to elicit a response from the boxer. He has gone radio silent on social media after an initial snub.
The six-hour deadline seems to be a power play on Bill’s part. Because it would not make any amount of sense for him to enter a testing pool while the lawsuits are still pending. It would be a sign of weakness if Garcia agreed. It would put him in a one-upmanship situation if he agreed to the demands. However, the Haneys still urge on.
The subservient over-the-top blanket does not hide the fact that ‘King Ry’ snagged a majority decision win over Haney, that too a bout consisting of several knockdowns and instances of ‘Dream’ being rocked. Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) needs the rematch all the more because ‘King Ry’ beat him in Brooklyn in April. He is not a PPV star and doesn’t have a massive social following, given his public trouncing.
Then there’s Garcia’s record of anti-Islamic and racist comments on social media. This led to his expulsion from the WBC, and thus makes a potential rematch with Devin Haney far less appealing, as beating him wouldn’t allow him to challenge for the WBC super lightweight title. So, Garcia does not even have any bankable opportunity to blow at all. As it stands, the fate of this rivalry is very weird right now.
