Recently, the boxing community has experienced a resurgence in its prominence globally, largely due to some exciting matchups over the past few years. As 2025 begins, excitement builds with another highly anticipated clash: American boxing superstars Ryan Garcia and Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero are set to face off against each other, generating considerable buzz within the community.

Ryan Garcia is a former WBC interim lightweight champion, while Rolly Romero held the WBA super lightweight title. Interestingly, the current standing of both boxing superstars in the community is not very high. The 29-year-old Romero remains in poor form. Once, he was an undefeated professional boxer and a former WBA super lightweight champion. However, that was up until he faced Gervonta Davis.

In 2022, Romero faced ‘Tank’ Davis for the WBA lightweight title, but suffered a significant defeat. Similarly, ‘KingRy’ also lost his undefeated record in professional boxing due to a loss against Davis. A few matches later, Garcia faced a suspension after testing positive for banned substances in his last fight against Devin Haney.

According to reports confirmed by both Garcia and Romero, the two boxers are scheduled to face each other in May. Additionally, boxing promoter Turki Alalshikh has provided more details about the matchup. According to the Saudi GEA chairman, Garcia and Romero will be featured in The Ring Magazine’s first boxing card in the USA.
