Conor McGregor singlehandedly made the UFC popular across the globe. He did it with impressive performances, trash talks, and controversial antics. An unhinged Ryan Garcia aims to do something similar as he chugged beer after he missed weight in the fight against Devin Haney. Garcia’s controversial antics garnered a negative response from the combat sports community.
Nonetheless, McGregor is a fan of Garcia’s skills. He had come into Garcia’s dressing room after he lost for the first time against Gervonta Davis. The Irishman appreciated Garcia’s performance and urged him to rematch Davis but without the rehydration clause. Interestingly, Conor McGregor’s response to Garcia’s antics was not negative. He may have found it a good promotion, or he might be trolling.

Even though McGregor sided with Garcia, he has not done anything like it. McGregor has done controversial things, but he never missed weight for a fight. Moreover, according to Dana White, McGregor is the best fighter to work with. That is not the case with Ryan Garcia, as Oscar De La Hoya, his promoter, had many troubles with Garcia.

Conor McGregor also applauded Dillon Danis‘ performance against Logan Paul. Danis had one of the worst performances ever in professional boxing. On the other hand, McGregor has also appreciated impressive performances inside the octagon. He had applauded Israel Adesanya and Sean Strickland for their fight at UFC 300. Therefore, what he meant by his comment about Garcia is a mystery.
Retired boxers’ comments on Ryan Garcia’s weight miss
Shawn Porter knows a thing or two about professional boxing. After all, he has fought the likes of Terence Crawford, Errol Spence Jr., Keith Thurman, and others. Moreover, he has defended the WBC and IBF welterweight titles, albeit separately. Now, he is part of the DAZN broadcast stream.

Like almost every other boxer and boxing fan, Ryan Garcia’s weight miss baffled him. Moreover, he did not mince words in his comments about Garcia’s future if he was unsuccessful against Haney.

Sergio Mora, a former boxing middleweight title challenger, also had a similar sentiment. Garcia’s unprofessionalism made him question his chances against elite opponents. Interestingly, Oscar De La Hoya had a different belief.
De La Hoya revealed to Ariel Helwani that there is pressure on Devin Haney to perform. His words should not matter much as he is Garcia’s promoter. Nonetheless, De La Hoya mentioned that he was a promoter and not a babysitter. The statement reflected the trials and tribulations that Garica put Golden Boy Promotions through.
