Tokyo Olympics Karate: Ryo Kiyuna dedicated his medal to his deceased mother as he became the first Kata champion in the history of the Olympics

Karate came into existence roughly eight centuries ago and after a long campaigning Karate finally made its way into the Olympics, and players from all around the world showcased their talent to claim the title of Olympic champions.
The two types of Karate competitions one is Kumite where athletes fight against each other and try to score more points than their opponents. The other one is Kata, in this player demonstrate a specific set of moves under complete control and rhythm, and there are judged accordingly.
After a tough competition at the Kata competition, we finally have our first winner in the men’s category. Ryo Kiyuna of Japan claimed the gold medal in the division and the three-time world champion is now an Olympic champion as well.
After receiving his medal at the podium, he expressed his views on how he felt, he said, “I’m very happy that I was able to make a mark in history.” He received his medal with a photo of his deceased mother in his hand, and it was a very emotional moment for the champion.

Kiyuna became the first Olympic gold medalist from the southwest Island chain of Japan, even though he is the first Olympic champion in Karate’s Kata tournament there wasn’t necessarily a grand celebration after this victory.
It was a very emotional moment for Ryo and he dedicated this medal to his late mother, he said, “After I won, I first wanted to tell my mom and also share my appreciation to everyone who helped me get here,” he said. “I wanted to tell my late mother that I kept our promise getting the win at the Olympics.”
