The WNBA returned Thursday night after a several-week sabbatical to allow the league’s top players like Sabrina Ionescu to travel across the country and compete in the 2024 Paris Olympics. While the USA fans enjoyed witnessing Team USA win their eighth consecutive gold medal, it was reassuring to see the nation’s top stars return to home territory and play for their favorite teams.

Interestingly, while the players were back to their usual outings in the WNBA, one thing was certain, the Olympics being at the back of their minds. That much became clear during the New York Liberty game, when gold medalist Ionescu performed a legendary celebration, striking the famous ‘Yusuf Dikec pose‘ and emulating the 10m air pistol silver medalist.

This particular celebration came after her teammate, Breanna Stewart, scored a wonderful three-pointer against the Los Angeles Sparks. Ionescu could not contain her excitement as she brought out the famous Dikec pose in front of the whole world watching.

On the other hand, Stewart had a monster game, scoring 27 points on 10-for-15 shooting in the 103-68 blowout victory. In addition to her 18 points, Ionescu had six assists and four rebounds in the victory.
