Former ATP pro slams Men’s Australian Open matches as they ‘kind of su*ked’ despite having Novak Djokovic, Carlos Alcaraz, and Jannik Sinner
The former player claimed the Men's events at the Australian Open were dull and no one will remember them in the future.

Former American tennis player, Sam Querrey, criticized the ATP draw at this year’s Australian Open. In spite of having players like Novak Djokovic, Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz, Alexander Zverev, and Holger Rune, among others, Querrey thinks the tournament was not at all a memorable one.
The Men’s final at the Australian Open, which concluded on Sunday (January 26), saw Sinner become a three-time Major champion. The first seed dismantled 2nd seed Zverev in straight sets to win his second straight title at Melbourne Park.
Although more than 1.1 million fans attended the Melbourne Slam, the Men’s events disappointed former World No.11 Querrey because according to him, the matches, including Djokovic versus Alcaraz in the quarterfinal, would soon be forgotten in six months.
While the Men’s final was rather a one-sided affair, Madison Keys, in the Women’s final, upset World No.1 Aryna Sabalenka in three sets, crushing her hopes of winning the Australian Open three times on the trot.
Sam Querrey backed Alexander Zverev to win the French Open
Following the Australian Open, Alexander Zverev became a three-time Grand Slam finalist. He first advanced to a Major final at the 2020 US Open and in spite of a 2-0 lead, Dominic Thiem secured the win.
Then Sascha met Carlos Alcaraz in the French Open final, the result of which didn’t end in his favor. The tennis community, following Zverev’s third defeat in Grand Slam finals, started debating whether he could ever win a Major in his career. Sam Querrey believes Zverev has the ability to toil on the slow courts of the French Open and could win it.
Former World No.8 John Isner was also a part of the podcast and he too was of the same opinion. Isner’s compatriot Jack Sock, on the other hand, believes the 27-year-old is likely to win the French Open or the US Open.
