WWE often has celebrities and huge wrestlers hosting many of their PLEs. For example, The Miz and Snoop Dogg hosted WrestleMania 39, Hulk Hogan hosted WrestleMania 30, and The Rock hosted WrestleMania 27. With the company set to hold its first Bad Blood PLE after nearly 20 years on October 5th, 2024, WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill will host the upcoming show.

WWE received quite a lot of backlash for their announcement that Belair and Cargill would be hosting Bad Blood. Ring announcer Samantha Irvin stepped up for her friends and defended them on social media. She further continued in the replies, sarcastically saying that the internet fans were completely aware of how to take care of a professional wrestling company.

Irvin said that they knew how to book PLEs, secure sponsors, delegate budgets, call matches, commentate, brand, and market. However, they did not know how to sit back and enjoy the show. Samantha Irvin continued to reply to a lot of comments and criticisms on her post. She was adamant in her stance and even said that she was embarrassed for all the people claiming to be experts on the internet.

Cargill and Belair have had a great year in WWE so far. They secured a huge win at WrestleMania XL against Damage CTRL, and they won the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship twice this year. The duo has regularly performed at PLEs in an era when it’s extremely hard to get onto such shows due to WWE’s 5-match card rule.

Speaking on the Battleground Podcast, Belair was asked about the mark she would like to leave on the professional wrestling industry before she hangs up her boots. She started by saying that she was grateful for the women who had come before her. They had laid the groundwork that allowed her to unapologetically be herself.

I’ve had the honor of being the first of a lot of things, and that’s amazing, and I think that we have to celebrate those firsts. But I feel like I’m so ready to start changing that narrative, to where it’s now becoming the norm. I think that we’re heading in that direction.

The SmackDown Superstar talked about how she had been the first black woman to achieve many things in the WWE. While it was important to celebrate this, she wanted to ensure that women of color did not stay a novelty. She named her tag team partner, Jade Cargill, among other superstars who were leading the charge for marginalized communities to enter professional wrestling and for this to become the new norm.
