UFC Hall of Famer Ronda ‘Rowdy’ Rousey has made the headlines again. This time for publicly apologizing for sharing a conspiracy video on the Sandy Hook massacre over a decade ago. The apology stemmed from an incident during a Reddit Ask Me Anything (AMA) session, where fans pressed her about the video.
The former UFC and WWE superstar faced intense scrutiny during the AMA session. It was mostly regarding her past controversial tweets, including those connected to the tragic Sandy Hook Elementary school shooting. The interaction took a turn when Ronda Rousey abruptly ended the AMA following questions about her contentious tweets. Nevertheless, she apologized after 11 years.
I apologize that this came 11 years too late, but to those affected by the Sandy Hook massacre, from the bottom of my heart and depth of my soul, I am so so sorry for the hurt I caused.Ronda Rousey via statement on X
At the time, Ronda Rousey shared a video that accused the mass shooting of school children of being set up by the government to boost anti-gun sentiment. She captioned the retweet by saying, “extremely interesting must-watch video,” but later deleted it. However, the netizens quickly noticed that and even confronted Rousey for that controversial tweet.
Although Ronda Rousey didn’t dare to shred her apology back then, following the AMA backlash, she finally did apologize. However, Alex Jones was one of the people to call the whole massacre fake. Jones has a very bad status in the community. As such, even former UFC fighter Michael Bisping once went off on him. Interestingly, not only Bisping, another popular UFC figure, has slammed the Infowars head once.
Joe Rogan talks about Alex Jones’ Sandy Hook controversy
UFC color commentator and popular podcaster Joe Rogan has often been blunt with his opinions. His Joe Rogan Experience podcast is the most popular one in the US. Interestingly, he is also known for getting involved in several controversies. Rogen brought in the controversial Alex Jones on his podcasts in one such instance. During that conversation, they brought up the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre.
Following that, the netizens slammed the podcaster for allowing Jones to spread controversial theories about the massacre. In response to that, Rogan clarified his stance on the whole fiasco. Due to Jones’ controversial saga, the UFC commentator is forced to avoid calling him on his podcast episodes.
I have always had good dealings with Alex (Jones) in person-to-person but he's obviously in a world of sh*t right now. There's a lot going on with him with the Sandy Hook stuff and he wasn't entirely honest with me about what he had said about Sandy Hook.Joe Rogan via Joe Rogan Experience
Interestingly, Joe Rogan and Alex Jones have been friends for a long time. However, Rogan felt Jones did not do the right thing for the victim’s parents as they were being labeled as crisis actors. Even though it has been 11 years since that devastating incident, it still remains one of the most tragic ones.
