It appears the 2024 regular season will be more challenging than what the New York Jets had hoped for. With the return of star quarterback Aaron Rodgers and a revamp of the offense in the offseason, the Jets aim to reclaim their ‘contender’ status in the upcoming season.

However, the spotlight of six primetime games in the first eleven weeks puts a ticking clock on the Jets, either to ace the season since the beginning or risk repeating the mistake of last season.

Interestingly, when cornerback Sauce Gardner was asked about the massive spotlight on the Jets in the upcoming season, he appeared confident in his team.

We always ready. We always going to be ourselves, we are always going to have the same identity, we are not going to change anything just because it’s prime time. It’s great to be able to have those prime-time games. A lot of people are expecting a lot out of us, we expect a lot out of ourselves.
Garner said during an interview with Jets reporter Caroline Hendershot.
It’s going to be competitive and I’m a competitor.

He further expressed how the Jets are rather grateful to have so many primetime games, as everybody will be watching them. It gives the perfect opportunity for Rodgers’ Jets to emerge as contenders.

The Jets’ star cornerback appeared quite poised while talking about the intense spotlight with each pair of Thursday Night Football games, Monday Night Football game, and Sunday Night Football games, as Gardner loves such games.

Jets eye playoffs after 13-year drought

The Jets haven’t made it to the playoffs since 2010 and haven’t had a two-digit win since 2015. They had high hopes to end this tragic saga when they traded for Rodgers from the Green Bay Packers.

However, their dream was crushed to the ground when the star quarterback suffered a torn Achilles injury and remained benched for the entire season.

The former NFL MVP has recovered now and is planning for a solid comeback with the addition of offensive weapons. Given everything, NFL Network Analytics Expert Cynthia Frelund predicted the Jets would record 9.6 wins in 2024.

If the projection comes true and the Jets don’t crumble under the spotlight, there might be a possibility for them to end their playoff drought and qualify for the postseason in the very last spot, the No. 7 seed in the AFC Conference.
