Scott Styris questions the criticism on Ravindra Jadeja and lauds him for his brilliant all-round performances

Ravindra Jadeja has elevated his batting and bowling abilities to new heights, proving to be an excellent all-rounder for both the Chennai Super Kings and the Indian side. He averaged 131 with the bat in IPL 2021, while also taking 6 wickets at an economy rate of just 6.70. He has had an impact on the field with several run-outs and catches, and he is currently one of the best fielders in the world.

Scott Styris was taken aback by the fact that Jadeja had been chastised earlier in his career, believing that he is now at the pinnacle of his abilities. Styris lauded Jadeja for his sensational performances in IPL 2021 and wondered why he has received so much scrutiny over the years.

“I can tell you from a foreigner’s perspective, I could never understand any of the criticism that came his [Ravindra Jadeja’s] way. He is a terrific cricketer, he can do absolutely everything at the top highest level,” said Styris while speaking to Star Sports.

Jadeja, along with Glenn Maxwell, is arguably the best fielder in the world right now, according to Scott Styris, and his throws to impact runouts are unrivaled.

“I love his fielding ability. Along with, say, Glenn Maxwell, I think he is probably the best fielder in the world at the moment. And you always separate yourself from your ability to throw the stumps down and affect those run-outs. I think that’s where he is better than everybody else,” added Styris.

Happy to see CSK promote Jadeja higher the batting order: Scott Styris

Ravindra Jadeja

Scott Styris was pleased with CSK’s decision to promote Jadeja to the top of the order, stating that Jadeja has the potential to be a legitimate batsman and is capable of finishing tremendously like Kieron Pollard, Hardik Pandya, and AB De Villiers.

“I have been calling it since last year. I thought CSK needed to move him up the order and I am glad it happened this year because he is just that good. He has the ability to be a genuine batsman and then use that power at the end to close games, like a Pollard, like a Hardik Pandya, like an AB de Villiers,” concluded Styris.

In the match against RCB, Jadeja smashed 37 runs in the last over of Harshal Patel to record the joint-highest runs scored in the history of IPL. He ended up scoring 62* off just 28 deliveries. Jadeja also chipped in with 3 wickets and effected a run-out to guide CSK to a comfortable victory
