In the quest for a 3rd Masters title, Scottie Scheffler went low on Saturday. He shot an impressive 7-under 65 score to remain in contention for the green jacket. After the round, he hit back at a reporter following a bizarre question.
This year, Scheffler has started a bit slowly in tournaments. The World No.1 has struggled in the opening rounds before bouncing back in the latter stages and claiming a top finish.
In his 7th start at the Augusta National, the American international carded a round of 70 on Thursday. On Friday, his streak of 11 straight rounds of par or better at the Masters came to an end as he shot 2-over 74.

On the moving day on Saturday, Scheffler reminded the playing field and the fans around the world why he was the No.1 player. After an eagle on the second hole, he made 3 straight birdies on Holes 7, 8 and 9 to finish the front nine being 5-under par. This was the lowest front-nine score of his Masters career.

He kept the momentum going with birdies on holes 11 and 16. His score of 65 saw him jump 17 positions in the leaderboard and end the day T7, 4 shots behind the co-leaders Cameron Young and Rory McIlroy.

After the round, a reporter asked him a strange question about whether the round could have been better. The 4-time major champion would hit back at the journalist for this and label it as an “awful” question.
That’s just a terrible question. Next question. Awful.
Scottie Scheffler told the reporter
Reporter: “That was a 65 today. What did it feel like it could have or should have been?”

The golfer, however, did claim later in the same interview that the round could have been better.
To answer your question, it wasn’t maybe that bad, but it definitely could have been lower. But like I said, I did what I needed to do.
Scottie Scheffler added
Scheffler did have a birdie putt lip out at the 3rd hole. He then had birdie putts on holes 11, 12, 13 and 14. However, only one of them went in.
With McIlroy’s stumble in the third round, Scheffler does have a chance. He will need a similar score on Sunday and a bit of luck, if he were to wear the green jacket for a third time in his career.
Scottie Scheffler not feeling like he’s out of the Masters Tournament
Scottie Scheffler needed a strong performance on Saturday to remain in contention for the Masters Tournament. With his score of 65 on the moving day, the golfer is not feeling like he is out of the tournament.

Scheffler improved to 9 shots in the third round. While speaking with CBS Sports’ Amanda Balionis, the Dallas-native expressed that it was a good day on Saturday.
Overall, it was a good day. We’ll see what happens this afternoon, but I don’t feel like I’m out of the Tournament.
Scottie Scheffler said
“Feel like I left a few shots out there, but overall it was a good day. We’ll see what happens this afternoon, but I don’t feel like I’m out of the Tournament.”

Last year, Scheffler stunned the golf world with an incredible comeback in the BMW Championship. He came back from a 4-shot deficit and edged past Robert MacIntyre to claim his 5th victory of the season.

So Scheffler knows what it takes to come back from behind and win. Can he do it all over again on Sunday, though? That is the big question. He will tee off alongside China’s Haotong Li at 1:52 p.m. Eastern Time.
