Scottie Scheffler has won again. The World No.1 once again showcased why he indeed is the World No.1 by running away with the PGA Championship at the Quail Hollow course. His victory later forced Phil Mickelson to make a dramatic U-turn.

Following a slow start in Round 1 due to some mud balls, Scheffler took control of the proceedings in the next two rounds. In Round 3, Scheffler made 3 birdies and 1 eagle in the final five holes, to take a 3-shot lead heading into the final round on Sunday.

Despite a rough front-nine, Scheffler was able to bounce back. The Dallas-native eventually walked away with the crown with a 5-shot win and claimed his 3rd major title.

His win led to Phil Mickelson swallowing his words and making a giant U-turn. Earlier this year, the LIV Golfer boldly claimed that Scheffler would not win again until the Ryder Cup. The 6-time major champion also labeled his league mate Joaquin Niemann as the World No.1 instead of Scheffler.

A few weeks ago, Mickelson was forced to admit defeat as Scheffler won the CJ Cup Bryon Nelson. This week, the veteran golfer once again congratulated him on X and shared a blunt message while admitting that he ‘clearly‘ is the World No.1 golfer.

Congrats to Scottie Scheffler on an incredible performance. Clearly #1 in the world.

Meanwhile, Mickelson had a tournament to forget. The HyFlyers GC captain was one of the top names who missed the cut this year.

After a score of 79 in the first round, he had a nightmare moment at the par-4 12th hole in Round 2. He made a score of 8 on this hole and ended up with a score of 72 for the round. This saw him finish with a score of 9-over, 8 shots behind the 1-over cut line.

9-time major champion congratulates Scottie Scheffler on winning 3rd career major title at 2025 PGA Championship

After Scottie Scheffler took a 3-shot lead at the end of Round 3, it seemed inevitable that he would come out as the winner on Sunday. The golfer did have some hiccups in the final round but was able to come out on top again. A 9-time major champion would later congratulate him for his win.

This victory of Scheffler was his 2nd win of the year. However, it was his first major championship victory since he became a father last year.

9-time major champion Gary Player took to his X account to congratulate Scheffler for his win. The veteran golfer also expressed that if he (Scheffler) kept on doing the right things and sky was the limit for him.

Congratulations to Scottie Scheffler on his superb PGA Championship victory at Quail Hollow and first major championship as a father! What an incredibly special moment to share with your wife and son.

This win also sees Scheffler completing one half of a career grand slam. He now needs to win the U.S. Open and the Open Championship to become the latest men to hold all four major championships. While it is still a long way to go, the form he is in, many would expect him to atleast complete the third leg of the slam this year.
