Geno Smith had a Cinderella story when he burst out in the 2022 season. After spending almost a decade in the NFL as a backup, the former 2nd round pick produced two Pro Bowl seasons and has firmly established himself as the starting quarterback for the Seattle Seahawks. Now about to be 34, there are a few question marks surrounding his ability. But he is not fazed.
Smith sat down with Seahawks reporter John Boyle to talk about the changes in the team and the off-season. When Boyle asked him how he was looking forward to his 12th season, Smith had quite the reply.
I'm still getting better. I've made leaps and bounds physically, I'm still getting stronger at my age. I don't know if that's rare or not, but that's something I'm doing. I've gotten faster, I don't think I've ever thrown the ball as good as I am right now. I'm in a really good place, just accuracy wise, and I can throw the ball farther than I ever have. That's the reason why I think I can still improve. I'm still not a finished product.Geno Smith said
Those words suggest that the best is yet to come from Geno Smith. He has prepared himself to silence all doubters.
Those doubts were creeping in among Seahawks faithful after they missed out on the playoffs last season. It did bring sweeping changes to the coaching positions. But more importantly, fans were not sure if Smith, who is on the wrong side of 30, can take them to the next level. However, the work he has put in, suggests that the Florida native has taken all the necessary steps to get better. He and his team can put together an impressive playoff-bound season, the doubts will stop.
Geno Smith has a rejuvenated Seahawks at his disposal
Last season, one of the reasons for missing the playoffs was down to their predictable game plans. More importantly, they were not good against other playoff contenders. This prompted longtime head coach Pete Carroll to step aside, and Mike Macdonald took charge. With him comes a completely new coaching staff.

That is supplemented by some decent roster moves that on paper has improved their offensive and defensive lines. The two main units that struggled in those big-ticket games. Now with all that done and a new playbook to learn, the Seahawks are going to be an unknown quantity. They still have one of the best wide-receiving groups in the league and an improving set of young players.
If it all starts clicking in the first few weeks of the upcoming season, expect the Seattle Seahawks to return to the playoffs. If that happens and Geno Smith has another good season, he could win his 3rd straight Pro-Bowl.
