Never one to back down from a challenge, Ryan Garcia quickly fired back at the MMA star on social media. He tweeted a mock fight poster for “O’Malley vs Garcia.” This potential fight would be a boxing match with O’Malley crossing over to boxing. This is what he captioned the post:

O’Malley had set his sights on a boxing matchup with Garcia for quite some time now. He wants to follow in the footsteps of Conor McGregor. However, the fight didn’t materialize and they went on to fight their respective opponents. Now, the rivalry is gaining traction again. As such, a crossover bout between Ryan Garcia and Sean O’Malley may finally happen.

Sean O’Malley believes he is 2 fights away from the boxing crossover

UFC bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley has his sights set on a massive crossover boxing match against Ryan Garcia. But according to ‘Suga’ himself, that lucrative dream fight is still a couple of victories away from becoming a reality. O’Malley explained why the Garcia boxing match isn’t imminent. He believed he needed to get bigger in the UFC to have a lucrative matchup with Ryan Garcia. Suga acknowledged that the UFC was interested in this but only if it made them enough money.

I'm not there yet; I still gotta become bigger. Two more fu****g sick performances, then we're talking about being able to do whatever the f we want. They [UFC] told me, 'you can do a boxing fight 100% if it makes us enough money.' The option is there; it just has to be able to make enough money.

It’s no surprise the UFC wants to carefully cultivate O’Malley’s stardom before allowing a lucrative crossover stunt. Despite being champion, his pay-per-view drawing power still lags behind the promotion’s top talents like Conor McGregor.
